Well the Limerick Kilkenny match is very tough to gauge anyway due to the conditions they were played in.
Tipp struck some amount of aimless ball into their attack yesterday. Normally suicide against Kilkenny.
i’ll be shocked if oshea replicates that strategy, Tipp will use runners/support play from MF/HB (Woodlock, Maher x 2, Shane McGrath) and open distance scoring opportunities for bubbles, Corbett, Bonar Maher and co, wouldn’t be surprised to see Forde in for Noel McGrath
It wasn’t really aimless. It was a tactic to target Callanan on Shane O’Neill. They cut it out in the second half anyway when it became clear it wasn’t really working
As Corporal Jones used to say " the fuzzy wuzzys don’t like it up them". They were only 2 pts up at half time after Cork gave the most abject display by a non-Limerick team in Croke Park.
Kilkenny by 7.
That was a clear tactic by Tipperary v Limerick, Bergin seemed to be designated to run onto breaks from Bonnar Maher and he had a hand in both Tipp goals. Unfortunately they also allowed the Limerick Centre-Field the run of the field.
There is no way they will be lumping high ball into JJ etc.
They’ll hardly start Herity? Michael Fennellys form will be a big factor in deciding the game. If he’s dominating Brendan or Padraic Maher tipp will be in trouble if Maher wins that Kilkenny will be totally reliant on Richie Hogan to send in good ball. Kilkenny just hate tipp I think though, they gave everything in that qualifier last year so as not to lose to them at home and were sitting ducks after that, they haven’t put in a big 70 all year, or haven’t had too, they might this time.
To win any All Ireland your team has to be right on the day carrying tops two players on 6/10 games. Lar and to a lesser degree Noel McGrath are these two players. And I’m not convinced about Shane McGrath, v good game yesterday but can he do it again. Will Tipp find a way to free up Bubbles to score like he did yesterday v KK?
Cork were that poor. The lads I talked to today, they were to a man so disappointed to what was a really bad day in the office. Cork will probably never play that bad again. And I think most will agree that Tipp had an excellent day yesterday. The result - 10pt win. If you give that space and don’t bring the intensity to the match v Tipp they pulverise you. I can’t see KK letting Tipp do that.
So what do we need to do. Murphy on the goal for one. I respect Herity but as Piles said (I think) we are more at ease with the Glenmore man in goals. I’m not too worried about the full back line. The fear and the rivalry that KK have about losing to Tipp and playing Tipp - you can’t appreciate how much we want to beat Tipp - EVERY FUCKIN TIME!!! Can’t bate them enough, never give them an inch, ever! And when they’re beat, beat them the next time!
Fennelly and TJ have to preform, this is a must. TJ has to nail every free and be that influential player he can be. Colin Fennelly has to preform too but not too worried about him, he’s had a great year.
Richie Hogan has been immense for us this year. For a man his size what he had done this season is a credit to the man. Must be the Lockes blood in him!! More again please.
Larkin - just don’t know. Slow but yet he gets the job done.
Richie Power to start too, need his experience.
The half back line should be okay but is a worry. Brian Hogan has Cody’s confidence again, not sure if he has mine but again he’s probably one of 4 players who are thinking this is my last chance here, it’s the All Ireland and we’re playing fuckin Tipp ffs!!
You know now what I normally do, go for our opposition. But the Cats are going to win this. I don’t care that we’re in the final again, don’t care that we don’t do anything else but hurl, don’t give a shit that everyone hates us! Cunts can boo Cody all they want. We’re fuckin Kilkenny and we are going to win!!!

Eh, it was a typical Bubbles 'Dwyer performance on Sunday and nothing to do with the space afforded to him by Cork. He hit 4 points against Limerick, 6 against Galway and 2-1 against Dublin before yesterday despite only really hurling around the fringes.
Gleeson did very well and I’m not trying to downplay his contribution yesterday but it’s one thing doing accurate short puckouts to fellas in 20 yards of space not being tracked or hustled. It’s an entirely different thing to do it to a team that created the template for how to defend short puckouts with the added pressure of starting your first AI Final.

who was in 20 yards of space ?..the Sunday game showed it from behind the goals and eddie brennan said it at half time that Gleeson’s puckouts were throught he eye of a needle at times and were very close to being intercepted so I think you are really underestimating Gleeson’s performance…
Tipp only scoring 1 point from a free is a damning indictment of how poor Cork were defensively. Cork couldn’t even get close enough to foul.
I think you are seriously underestimating how difficult tipp forwards must be to mark due to the space that is being created…
Your 2 posts remind me of the lazy analysis people gave to Dublin footballers last year with the oppositions defense always being weak and all have you have to do is stop cluxton’s kick outs…until you try doing it you see the difficulties …Tipp forwards have put up ridiculous scores in their last 4 games …to my mind a strict ref and kilkenny could get a pasting…
tipp have surely learnt by now the worst thing they can do is take on KK physically…they should be looking to keep doing what they are doing and moving it fast…
In fairness to Gleeson I have seen him hurl a couple of times in goal for Portrue and he is almost like a Quarter back for them, his puckouts and sweeping off his line to start attacks is different class at that level. His distribution is top class, good to see he seems to have gotten over the yips

Yes -Gleeson was very accurate on Sunday but it is high risk strategy and depends on execution being spot on.
Will KK go man to man to stop it and then compete as normal for breaking ball around middle/half back line

The Lockes I take it is John Lockes, Callan? Any sign of another intercounty hurler coming out of there? You must feel very peripheral to this golden age of Kilkenny hurling not having produced a player of note since John Power retired in 2002.
Callan and also Thomastown are a bit more geared towards soccer.

I was more making the point about the lack of Cork effort in chasing and making it hard for Gleeson. Gleeson did very well and was superbly accurate. And his targets did excellently to get the ball under control quickly. I just felt that with better effort from the Cork defenders they could have turned one of the puck outs over earlier. And that would change the whole mindset of Tipp going for those types of puckouts.
Its the soccer types from hurling wastelands that make the most noise and blow the most shit when it comes to talking about hurling.
Not at senior level anyway, we’re only a struggling junior team at this stage, too young and small to make any serious impact. We’ll be down there for a while yet.
We had one on the U-21’s and intermediate this year. There’s 2 on the minor panel though, which is nice.
He scored 0-03 against KK in the qualifier last year and 1-03 in the league final.
