All Ireland Hurling Final 2014- Kilkenny vTipperary

Fuck off

Just looked at the KK score of the game. Two blocks, won back possession, John Power wins the clearance and sends it over the bar! Mighty!!

So what forward line would have got one over KK today Kid?

One without 3 passengers ( Corbett, McGrath and a clearly injured maher )
Kk were much much better today . Nice way for the greatest ever defender and greatest ever forward to bookend their careers, and nobody could deny they deserve it.

The Tipp forwards reverted to type in the face of huge intensity
Don’t think they ever changed from that ‘type’. It’s not a moral deficiency, they just don’t have the ability to win hard ball.

The reality is that the pattern of the game three weeks ago was exactly what Tipp needed to beat Kilkenny, but they didn’t do it because they didn’t take their goal chances. Today was exactly the type of game Kilkenny wanted and they got the job done.

Kieran Joyce, man of the match?

I thought there were better performances

fogarty was my motm by a mile

+1 he was everywhere today worked his bollox off.
Nothing he does now is going to damage his legacy in any case, but it’s hard to see him making the team in merit again if you were going by today.

Does Shefflin have more All-Ireland medals than defeats in championship hurling?
9 defeats anyway in 16 seasons. Some only count medals won when starting so depends on your viewpoint whether it’s 9 or 10 medals.

Fogarty or M Fennelly for me

fogarty covered some ground. I’d love to see his stats on block, hooks and ground covered.

Fogarty for me too. He dispossessed/blocked/hooked about 9 different Tipp players in the act of shooting today.

Henry on Saturday Night Show.

Thought P Walsh was excellent too.

Cillian Buckley too

They were allowed to by Gavin, who tolerated rugby tackling to an extent I have never before witnessed. He was equally had for both teams, but this suited kk, as players were unceremoniously felled. It was a lazy and cowardly refereeing performance. It is interesting that Barry Kelly’s more honest approach resulted in a much better game.
Damp enough squib today really. Never really sparked.

I thought Brian Gavin was excellent today. He penalised the head high clothesline tackles and spare arm grabs but allowed good, hard shoulders and general physicality. It was genuine and manly.

I also thought today was a much better game. The drawn game was like an exhibition match with no tackling.

We will have to disagree on that one.

Brian.

Colin?
