So who should pick-up Duggan?
Downey would be best imo but he needs to be 6. TOM struggled the last day and Coleman is an obvious no.

And wouldnāt be a peep about quick puck outs
I think quick puck outs in their current guise are a blight on the game. Possession from a puck out should be earned. One of the best features of hurling is the contest for possession and we are being robbed of it on these puck outs. It also penalises attacking play. A forward works hard to get a shot off and is rewarded by his marker receiving handy possession 5 seconds later.
Iāve no issue with Patrick Collins and Cork bending the rules to get an advantage but i think the game is beginning to resemble a training match with no referee and is definitely the poorer for it.
ā¦Iām completely lost on how quick puck-outs invalidates either of these, puck-outs are still being competed, Collins isnāt hitting it to Cork lads unmarked. Nevermind the fact that itās Cork pace, awareness and movement that is getting them a couple of inches of space to win the ball in the first place.
I can see the argument about it punishing successful forward play but on the other hand slower puck-outs leads to more rucks and less puck-outs going long against set defences.
Yeah he kind of does that anyway doesnt he. McInerney got MOTM the last day and is arguably holding Clare together at times and he has to do damage limitation on him too. Hegarty has been unplayable this year.
I think Clare will test the Cork half-back line more than Limerick did in the semi-final, simply because they will look to carry the ball that little bit more.
The positioning of SOD will be interesting, heās obviously the key man for Clare this year. He did wreck inside in the round robin game but heās such a good ballwinner at half-forward, it must be very tempting to play him there too. But with Taylor back, they can probably afford to leave him inside.
Clare will have a few questions to answer similar to Limerick aswell, how do you deal with Shane Barrett when you have an aging centre-back?
I still think Limerick should have completely conceded the short puckout and just killed that space entirely because thatās where Corkās threat was. If I was Clare Iād do the same but it does take a lot of discipline, as once Cork get running, they are a massive threat.
Cleary to take Brian Hayes? Hogan on Connolly and Leen on Horgan?
SOD on SOD? Downey on McCarthy and NOL on Reidy?
Iāve no issue at all with short puck outs that are taken after the opposition has a reasonable chance to reset and Collins is well able to perform these. Its the ones where the ball has only hit the back net and the keeper has the ball pucked out to an unmarked player is what Iām talking about.
David Mc was woeful in the Munster final and Hegarty beat him up a stick. In his defence he hasnāt played since the cork game due to a groin injury and didnāt train much in the six weeks leading up to the Munster final. He has since recovered and found form again
Fair enough but that is rare enough imo. Murphy wonāt allow it next day out if it happens.
Youād know the fellas who started watching hurling again after cork beat Limerick in the round robin
Sure you confused quick and short puck-outs there ten minutes ago. Cork hit their short puck-outs into their fucking full-forward line ffs.
I was talking about quick puck outs. Invariably when people make obvious corrections like that Iāve won the argument.
They are a blight on the game. Wanna play tennis go to Wimbledon.
I agree. Iād actually prefer if the ref had to blow the whistle for a restart regardless of a wide or a score
Wouldnāt mind seeing NOL on SODā¦bit more likely win ball in front of SODā¦think you are wasting your time trying to defend him from behind
WTF are you blabbering on about lad.
Any prsssure at all and he does the mother of all dives.
I have tickets for the match sorted, the old corporate sector is the only way. I got a pair for myself and two for a lad in Broadford and two for a lass from the Bridge. I think as a neutral it is a good way to watch the match. I heard the codes are a bit of a disaster at the moment for the tickets.
Youāll get contests. Teams will work it out. I donāt think the game benefits from being slowed.
I would love to see a stats sheet on Lim v Cork number of āquickā puckouts taken last Sunday.
Quaid took as many as Collins.
2 sorted now herself is delighted. A few pints for myself and hoping both lose
