And shane o Donnell of course
No. Shane OāDonnell was barely 19 in 2013 as well.
Ha! Snap!
Great quiz question though pal.
I could have stumped lads here.
I was going to say Eoin Kelly but he was 19/28.
Iām trying to think here but thatās a tricky one.
Well if they arenāt the first two then itās most likely theyāll be the last two to do it because of the move to the under 20 grade.
Iām seething I didnāt put this up twitter. Iād have gotten more traction and possible got into the papers.
You might have gone viral. Or else had your work copied and pasted.
John Leahy was still only 19 when Tipp won in '89 and was in his 30ās when winning in 2001.
He won one in his 20ās in 1991 though.
Phil Grimes (Waterford). Born May 8th, 1929.
Did not play in 1948 but was given a medal.
Played in 1959.
How many people even did that? Won them in teens 20s and 30s.
Was the same
Guy that was mentioned to me
As the longest gap between two all Irelands
?
Itās a great shout either way.
@Fagan_ODowd was on about a lad from abbeyside, was who was on the 1948 & 59 panels. He later trained greyhounds winning two English derbies.
For somebody to have won an All-Ireland in their teens and 30s but not their 20s the maths have to add up. There has to be a minimum 11 year gap between teams winning an All-Ireland (bar an injury to a particular player).
The maths add up for very few teams.
The only ones in what one could be loosely termed the āmodernā era are:
Waterford 1948-1959
Cork 1954-1966
Clare 2013-2024
Not sure if you can count him but Jack McCaffrey hadnāt yet turned 20 when winning in 2013 so didnāt turn 30 until a couple of months after last years win.
He could still do it properly I guess.
Kyle hayes is in that bracket too
Or no he was 20 before the final. Sorry.
Paddy mcbreaty could joined this very exclusive group in the coming years.
Cormac Costello is in the same bracket as McCaffrey.
