Munsters were batteting the Con Line. It was a misserable wet day and munsters had a series of scrums that they kept resetting. The ref wasnt in the mood to give a penalty try so they eventually drove off the back and after trying with tgeir forwards for about 10 mins to get over the line they chucked ot out the back and the winger scored a try. I’d guess it was mcInerney but even typing that I guess I’m wrong… one of the great days.
Nearly took Francis Brosnahans head clean off him.
Brossie was a great Limeruck all rounder. Played Midfield with Claughan in football and was the best midfielder in the county for years. Played junior soccer also and centre for Munsters for yonks with Pat Crosse as his partner in the centre.
You also got a load of rot at the club level. Fellas who’d never played the game become presidents of the club, year after year. Hadn’t a fucking notion and turned a lot of genuine clubmen off the game. You’d nepotism creep in at coaching level at some top teams which again disenfranchised many.
Seems to be changing again at least but was another big contributory affect on the club game in Limerick anyway.
Two sound skins. Pat turning Munchins into a force again.
I know crowds are pitiful at AIL games these days but do Young Munsters still get above average gates compared to most? They always had a big support. Would be a shame if it has completely disappeared.
500 - 600 on average I say. Garryowen and Shannon matches could pull 2000 plus depending on weather and importance
I’m similar - heading to Wanderers v Greystones at Lansdowne Rd on Fri night. Both teams unbeaten this season but that’s going to end for one of them …
Draw ???
You’re right of course - I should have said one teams winning record was going to end
Will you be rooting for the Chaps?
Where will you go for a pre/post match pint
Wont be on the beer this weekend have to be productive, typically Paddy Kelly’s after a match. Didn’t leave until after 4 after the shannon match last year
Is that on inside the stadium? I was down in Wanderers ground a few years back when they played Bruff. Fine clubhouse below
They have a fine set up there. Must be worth untold amount! Welcoming spot tbf
I will be. Everybody hates us but we don’t care!
Back pitch on Friday. Only get inside the stadium once or twice a year now. Wanderers is 150 years old this year (second oldest rugby club in Ireland after Trinity) and we played a game against Trinity earlier this year on the main pitch as part of the celebrations.
I presume you mean the Merrion Road ground? Sandwiched in between Ailesbury Road and Shrewbury Road so I’d say you could get a decent wedge for it alright

Yeah. Surely worth 30 or 40 million?
150? - founded in 1869 - really?
