I’d love to know how much anglesea road (Ollie Campbell park) to Belvo. Fine plot of land there

Founded in 1870 - so this is the 19/20 season i.e. 150 years on the go

I’m skeptical — I’ll give you 1871 maybe.

Yeah could be I suppose. 6 or 7 acres. There was talk of a land-swap new clubhouse deal but looks like now the clubhouse will be redeveloped etc.

Ha!

Interesting fact. The IRFU was set up in 1879 so there are a range of rugby clubs that were set up before it. You can recognise them because they are FC rather than RFC e.g Wanderers FC.

The FC being guarded like a first born.

Anyone have a full list of these only ones I can think of is Garryowen Lansdowne Wanderers and Dublin University(Trinity)

When was their old Club House sold on Frederick St South? I believe they had full boarding facilities for Chaps after a late night.

There’s 9 I think but don’t have the list. Probably on the IRFU website.

Good question - sometime in the 70’s/80’s I think

Carlow and Dungannon as well, I’m not sure if there are any others

Monkstown and Clonfarf too.

Real shame to lose things like that.

This website here seems to suggest the following “Other clubs which were formed at the time and are still in existence include, Wanderers founded in 1869; Lansdowne (1873); Dungannon (1873); UCC (1874); Co. Carlow (1873); Ballinasloe (1875); NIFC (1868); Queen’s University (1869). Ballinasloe and Athlone amalgamated in 1994 to form Buccaneers.”

I want proof!

Looking at it more there, according to DLS Palmerstown’s own history they were formed in 1899 and are the 13th oldest club in Ireland. Not sure why they trade as FC.

You can’t handle the proof

Some evening for it
