âIâll take your head clean off bossâ
8.35 draw time?
Galway have played well in every clutch game in nearly two years. Theyâll play just fine. Whether that will be enough, time will tell. This Galway team will not flinch.

Cork v Wd : 70 k attendance
Galway v Tipp , 60 k approx
It would be harder to beat Tipp in a final. Now was the time to get them.
That was a tremendous draw segment on Morning Ireland which really showcased the truly amateur ethos of the GAA.
Only one ball was drawn out of each bowl and a fair amount of audible unwrapping of each paper slip with each team name had to be done. Once Cork v Waterford was drawn, it was a case of âah, shure, look it, thereâsh no point drawing the second tie out of the bowls.â
For all anybody knew, the other balls could also have contained the names of Cork and Waterford.
Then David Treacy was brought in for âanalysisâ and tried ever so hard to not offend anybody by praising all the teams. David clearly hates Waterfordâs system but wouldnât say so. âPeople moight criticise their stoyle, but itâs a good fit for them, and it produced two classics, last year, so whoâs to say itâs not a good stoyle.â
It was an awkward moment for David when Darren Frehill asked him about Ger Cunningham. âI want to go on record to thank him for ll heâs done.â Then he awkwardly and self-consciously fumbled around in a Ciaran Kilkenny-esque manner to try and find some more words to not criticise Cunningham, pausing regularly to breathe in deeply in the process, before repeating his earlier quoted phrase.
âThanks Diarmuidâ, said Frehill, when Treacy had finally used up his alotted time.
You forget Kilkenny wonât be in this year. There will be a shortage this year.
