Lack of experience showed. The smart move in that situation was to lean his body into Walter and square himself over the ball. Only a young full-back tries to play the ball first in that situation.

Still seen in junior. I saw a wonderful exhibition of it in a recent Junior A game. The lad concerned made kippin’s of three of his hurleys. Great stuff altogether.

Where do you stand on pace versus acceleration.
My tuppence worth is Pace without acceleration is of limited benefit on a hurling pitch.
Acceleration without pace is of limited benefit too.
Acceleration combined with pace is the sweet spot
The sweet sweet spot is acceleration plus pace plus positional sense so in a race from A to B you don’t actually start at A.
My under 7s don’t get it but they will. Soon.

I’m finding it hard to get the real hatred going this year though. Yourself and the other Galway lads seem alright sorts and even @maroonandwhite seems to have lifted himself out of the pit of depression he was in for the last 18 months. He actually comes across as bordering on normal now.
