All Ireland Senior Hurling Final 2013 - Clare v Cork

I don’t think Clare were flattered by the margin. We were well outplayed, Clare were excellent and more than worthy winners. But it’s worth asking, would cork have missed those frees? If they win the same amount of possession Limerick did will they score more than Limerick did with it?

If they don’t they deserve to be hammered.

Ticket secured this evening:pint:

I’m hoping to go to this still, should be a cracking game of free flowing hurling. Any spares, direct this way.

Should be a cracker, good luck to both teams. May the best team win.
Lads Murphy has been training since 2 weeks after injury and has played 2 hurling games since.

If Kelly plays the same role as the last day I could see McLoughlin taking him.
Kev,

Murphy played against Midelton at the weekend. What other game did he play?

Say Cork leave Joyce or McLaughlin on Kelly, could Murphy squeeze out McDonnell at corner back?

Its hard to see how he could be fully right after that injury. Kilkennys experience starting injured players in recent times hasn’t worked out for them. Big call for JBM coming

He played a league game. His injury is nothing like the KK lads who in both cases were out for long periods previous to that and had no pre season done. Murphy is very fit. If he can get thru senior club with 3 weeks to Go he’s in a great place. The KK lads were not able to get a break and build up fitness. Totally different. He went to some horse Vet/Physio in England who told him at the time he’d be back running in 2 weeks.

I thought it was a shoulder or collar bone injury Kev? Read the article and my recollection was that it was a lad that treats jockeys he went to not a vet!! He recommended an alternative course of treatment as an option other than surgery and this seems to be working was the gist of the article. Be some boost for Cork if he is 100% fit.

This is a handy all Ireland for Cork

That’s it, you are right, it was the jockey Physio who always gets them back quick.

Obviously the shoulder is a big part of hurling but he shouldn’t need it too much pinching Kelly for 70 minutes.

Cork selector Ger Cunningham believes Clare’s assault on two fronts will be a help rather than a hindrance for Davy Fitzgerald’s men come next month’s senior All-Ireland final.
Fourteen of Fitzgerald’s squad have been double-jobbing with the county U21s this summer and they will seek to secure a second All-Ireland berth this Saturday when they come up against Galway in Semple Stadium. Cunningham knows something about such a scenario, having enjoyed similar runs in 1982 when the Cork seniors lost out to Kilkenny in one decider before his U21 side accounted for Galway in Birr a week later.

“It hasn’t been [a hindrance for Clare] up to now,” said the Bord Gáis Energy Sports Ambassador. “It has been great for them. I know they have built on the success of the U21 team and it has given them great momentum.

“It certainly didn’t show in the Munster final. They were very impressive and 14 of that panel trained with the senior team. It will be a good game against Galway, given some of the talent they have brought to Croke Park the last few years as well.”

Cunningham, who confirmed there were no injury concerns to arise out of last week’s club games, also found fault with the notion that Cork’s tradition would be a factor on September 8.

“From talking to some of the lads I deal with in UCC at Freshers level from outside of Cork they don’t fear Cork because they have beaten them at underage level at U14, U16 and minor and U21s. They don’t have that tradition of losing to Cork some counties might have had years ago.”

Cork will walk this.

I’ve just been shooting the breeze with Conor Lehane’s auld lad in beautiful east Cork. A lovely, lovely man. My word, I can’t wait for this final.

East Cork

Dreadfully under rated part of Cork. West Cork is so amazing it steals the limelight a bit. East Cork is different, but every bit as special.

Are you basing this on what you are reading from management etc or just you think Cork are superior?

I don’t think there is very much at all between the teams, but Corks approach is filing me with alot if confidence.

Apparently Paudie Sull is a big outside chance to be available. Seems very unlikely, but it’s out there anyway.

Are you @Beautiful City ?

It’s unfortunate in so many ways to have grown up in Limerick that you can’t develop more of a love for one’s county, it’s people, souroundings and environment.

Is that it? :)

Brian Gavin will referee the 2013 All Ireland Hurling Final.
