It didnt take Sean George long to make an impression, he only transferred up from Laois a couple of months ago. Laois are utter balls in this, think Cork whitewashed them in a challenge recently. Cant understand why Roe even bothered go back this year.
Wexford team named as well. Surprised that we got the home game here, we had two at home last year as well.
LIAM ÏG BACK IN THE FOLD
U-21 ace returns from Canada
LIAM OG Mcgovern has answered Wexford’s call by returning home from Canada to assist in the opening defence of their Cadbury¶s Leinster Under-21 football championship title against a highlyrated Dublin outfit at Bellefield this Wednesday (7.30 p.m.).
Mcgovern, who has been pursuing his university studies in Canada since last year, returned to home soil last week, and has figured prominently in the side¶s preparations since. There’s no cause for concern regarding the St. Anne’s man’s fitness as he has sparkled in training, with the result that he is included at left halfforward in a side that has something of a new
look from the team which won a first-ever provincial title in this grade for the county last year.
The fact that Dublin have proved so influential at Minor level, winning last year’s provincial title only to lost out in the All-ireland final to Tipperary, will make them a difficult proposition, as they contain some real quality in the team, players who are pushing strongly for inclusion in Pat Gilroy’s Senior squad.
But over the last two months Wexford have put in a huge amount of preparation, which contained challenge games against the top counties, and this should leave them ideally placed to face up to the Dubs in front of home supporters.
Despite the intensity of the preparations, manager Kevin Kehoe has still been able to keep a low profile with his charges.
They took a giant leap forward last year when winning the provincial title for the very first time, but right now the pressure is on the players, as they are the side every one is aiming to beat, with the Dubs first up in their efforts to wrest away the provincial crown.
There’s a good buzz around this Wexford team, which will have Michael Furlong, Willie Devereux, John Leacy, Matthew O’hanlon, Liam Og Mcgovern, Declan Murphy and Michael O’regan backboning their challenge from last year’s side.
The team is:
Brendan Redmond (Clongeen);
Willie Devereux (St. Martin’s),
Danny Gardiner (Castletown),
Michael Furlong (Adamstown);
Lee Chin (Sarsfields),
John Leacy (Glynn-barntown),
Shane Sinnott (St. Mary’s, Rosslare);
Aidan Cash (Shelmaliers),
Matthew O’Hanlon (St. James¶);
Barry O’Gorman (Taghmon-camross),
Graeme Cullen (Gusserane),
Liam Og Mcgovern (St. Anne’s);
Declan Murphy (Horeswood),
Michael O’Regan (Glynn-barntown),
Kevin Rowe (Fethard).
He’s grand in attack but got found out, particularly against Cavan last year, when he needs to defend as well. Can let the game pass him by a bit.
Manager Kevin Kehoe would want a big man int here as well now that his own son is overage. Hopefully it works out as O’Regan could be an option off the bench in this role for the senior side.
Kerry U-21’s played Dublin a fortnight ago in a challenge and lost by 6 points and only drew with Offaly in a challenge since then. Were meant to have been very poor.

Can’t understand how he’s been asked back. Fucking high opinion of himself and not too many others.
A bit surprising alright, but not much was expected of this crop and it seems not too many were willing to throw their hand in. Doesnt make it right for him to do so though. Underage football in Laois was let slip badly in recent years.
