All-Ireland U-21 2012

Cork forward offered nothing last 20 mins… Coughlan is fierce light. Their backs were out in front last night, but Tipp seemed to want it a bit more though…

Wat, Lim & Clare are a fair bit better than both teams though.

Be de jaysus theres life in us yet :guns:

i thought Tipp were a much better balanced side all through. Maher (2) and ODwyer (10) looked top class

Really delighted for Laois. It must’ve been hard enough for those lads going out tonight and they pulled off a tremendous result. I’m acquainted with some people from Laois and they are sound enough to reassure me that the twat from there that posts on here is not a fair reflection on the populace of the Queen’s county.

Didn’t expect them to win that game tonight but they should make the Leinster final now where hopefully they’ll come a cropper.

Congrats to the Tipp lads.

+1. Cahill?(7) for Tipp was good too. Conditions were terrible but even allowing for that it was poor stuff. Tipp finally made their extra possession count when it mattered. Would be disappointed if we didn’t beat them tbh on the evidence of tonight’s performance.

Good contest in the second half though, even if it wasn’t the greatest of games. Very committed stuff from both sides and some nice scores. The absence of any atmosphere detracted massively from it alright.

Yeah, he was out of it completely second half. Very disappointing. Drake was good, Coughlan the pick of the forwards. Backs were on top for most of the game. Really awful game to lose.
[/quote] couldnt agree with you about drake. He popped up now and again and hail Maryed the ball goalwards but contributed nothing at all to the battle to win the match. That Cronin lad looked useful. Lot of work to do on the speed of his hurling but his effort and his ability to get on the ball when it was hard was impressive. Coughlan was good but not a ruthless bone in his body. He had to go for goal from the chance in the first half and the 21 in the second i think. Corks backs are big athletic lads but they are not great hurlers. Once they tired they killed the forwards with the type of ball they delivered. Sideline too slow to bring on haughney and could have put drake in the corner and brought lehane midfield Tipp were more even but frankly their full back must be vulnerable to pace. Looked very ordinary. Their full forward line was toothless as well.

Ah it was interesting because it was close. Tipp should have had in the bag earlier with all their possession. When they finally figured out how to pass to their team mates they started racking up scores . Cork are very light even if they have some stylish players.

Cronin drifted out if it a bit second glad too I thought, but had a strong first half. You’d have thought the sideline should have done something to try to bring Lehane more into the game alright.

Think there is more in that tipp ff line, couple of final passes went astray but on better conditions could have easily had 2-3 goals

Great result for this Laois team considering the actions of quislings like Mbb trying to destroy them from within

Not tonight my friend, not tonight.

Great performance, nothing lucky about the win either. I admit I was surprised, Cha Dwyer and PJ Scully left with the minors but Foyle was immense as was Stephen Maher. Credit to one and all, Carlow between them and a Leinster final. With the minors facing up to Wexford in that semi final it echoes the good work being down over the last 10 years at underage levels. Just needs to be kept going and local men sourced for the main job next year god willing.

Lets hope results like last Saturday are the dark before the dawn but we’ve a long way to go yet. Nights like tonight though give us some hope and a little hope never does any harm.

where was that performance last weekend

In all fairness mbb would you fuck off with your roll eyes and your shit

Ouch!

MBB?

From the U21’s? Who were they playing mate?

Nah, not tonight pal, not tonight.

Close makes games and makes championship. It’s the general lack of closeness that’s made the senior championship so dull for the last few years.

Cork could have had two goals in the first half if a few fairly straightforward handpasses had found their mark. On the whole though Tipp were definitely the better team alright. The one thing all Tipp teams seem to instinctively do now is use the pocket of space behind the man in possession in attack. It’s one of the simplest and most effective ways to create scores in hurling and it takes a lot of hard work and discipline to counteract it.

Up Laois .

Limerick will ate Tipp, and without salt and pepper too.
