You should have said that then in the first place shouldn’t you?

They started the game the brighter i thought & were in contention right up till half time. What transpired in the second half though was utterly shocking stuff. I haven’t seen a team turn over the ball so easily & as much as Kildare did yesterday. In saying all that, Dublin look a serious outfit. Their options off the bench are seriously good, if they stay fit & healthy as a squad then they will take beating in the chase for Sam.
So surmising, Kildare are still shit.
I concur with that.
Extraordinarily dreadful in the 2nd half. Every time Dublin got beyond the 45 they looked like scoring (and usually did). It’s not often you’d see a Div 1 team destroy another Div 1 like that.
That sounds wonderful. Just right for cheering me up this morning. You wonder if there’s a decent Kildare side in there if McGeeney would let them off the leash a bit, but I doubt it somehow or other.
Sidney Did Kevin O’Brien play full back for Dublin and how did he do?
Vodafone to end their sponsorship deal with Dublin GAA at the end of this year’s championship.
They didnt exactly get close to the longevity of the Arnotts deal.
I ve only seen the footage from Laochra Gael, various video snippets but I thought he looked like a more natural footballer than a hurler. I am not saying that he wasnt skilful at the hurling but he just looked so composed, graceful on the ball in football and he had goal poaching skills. He seemed to have a massive impact with the footballers in 1973 at 19 years of age. U d struggle to think of a player that made such an impact at senior level with an ireland winning team first year out of minor. Jason Sherlock was outstanding for Dublin in 1995 but not in JBM class
Fagan O’Dowd surely saw JBM in his prime in both codes and could adjudicate on the better hurler\footballer debate?
Sorry, only seeing this now. JBM was a super player in both codes, to be fair. I remember him kicking a lovely point back over his head in the 1973 Football final against Galway and again in 1974, I saw him kick 4 goals for Munster in a Railway Cup game, which was a sensation at the time. He oozed class as a footballer, and being a LoI soccer player that shouldn’t have been a surprise. I think I last saw him play for Cork as a footballer in the 1979 Munster Final down in Cork, which they lost. But he was a super hurler too. Who knows which he was better at. Could we not just say he was equally good at both?
cumspot, it’s looking ever more crucial that Dublin lost that O’Byrne Cup Final after extra time - isn’t it? Imagine what the hype would be like now following on from the demolition of Kildare in Croke Park last Sunday if they also had an O’Byrne Cup trophy in their cabinet.
It didnt hurt either that Kildare celebrated it like a Leitrim team winning an FBD. Last Sunday was payback of sorts and it’ll be coming for a while yet.
It’s these games lost in January and February that are key to winning All Irelands in the end.
Sure anyone who’s ever read a feature interview with a player following an All Ireland victory will know that.

Exactly Bandage. You may not win the All Ireland in January or February, but you sure can lose it, any Kilkenny hurler will tell you that.

We had a clear the air meeting after it. There was a lot of things said fellas wouldn’t have been too happy with. But they needed to be said at the same time. There were a lot of short cuts being taken myself included and that’s being honest with you. There was a serious bit of bite at training the following night and we just seemed to drive on from there.
And there you have it. That paragraph could be taken from any Kieran Shannon pre or post All Ireland final feature interview over any of the last 15 years.
No need to apologise Fagan. Its never too late for a bit of JBM nostalagia. I am not sure we can say he was equally good at both. Cannot sit on the fence. I am siding towards that he was a better footballer but got to play more high profile games in the hurling and with better teams. seemed so classy in the football
Galway footballers have given a wonderful exhibition of how to kick the ball wide in Portlaoise. They trail Laois by 7 points with less than 5 mins to go. Laois down to 14 men.
Any one know why bernard brogan wasnt playing tonight?
The fouling at the end there from Tyrone was ridiculous. Badly needs some rule change. Obviously Dublin would have been guilty of the same if the scores were reversed but not only were they slowing Dublin down with their fouls, they were getting the referee to stop the game to sprint 30 yards to flash a yellow card too.
why cant they take the quick free and then brandish the card after the abll has gone dead, so not slowing the game and negating any perceived advantage from this type of fouling…
