History has taught us we need plenty timber playing wexford
Liam Ryanās red card will naturally be overturned.
My young lad has just woken up. Iāve paused just after the sending off.
Encouraging stuff for Wexford here as weāre not targeting the league this year.
An interesting result is Waterfords annihilation of Offaly today. 2-28 to 0-7 is a shocking beating. Have Offaly gone back further again or are Waterford with the shackles off going to be a live contender in August.
I think Waterford will be strong but the fact they have to play in Thurles is a hindrance. No sure about the full back line also.
Offaly gone further back again I reckon - Offaly were down a few bodies but Waterford missing about 10 also
I was told offaly had improved by someone close to them, jesus by that hammering I think its miles back. Its a shame.
Waterford will be strong if they stay fit and a few fellas from the u21ās a few years back start showing, Bennettās, Foran, Prunty, Curran etc. Aussie takes his head out of his hole and sort out full back
Down in Joe McDonagh doesnt help either. Results like that today are no good.
I reckon Carlow are probably a 6 or 7 point better team than Offaly are at the moment and that is quite an indictment of Offaly hurling. No disrespect of course to Carlow and the wonderful work Bonnar has done with them.
What happened offaly hurling can anyone explain the collapse.
When they stopped cutting turf in Offaly that was the end of them
I d fancy the scallion eaters to bate Offaly alright
What are ye targeting, the Joe McDonagh in 2020?
look at their team sheet, no Shane Dooley, no Joe Bergin, look rather lightweight
think a few didnāt answer the call either when called into the panel this year
Cathal Dunbar will hopefully be good this season on the hard ground. Heās got great pace and has a lovely ability to sharply swerve or cut back inside a tackle when going at full pelt, as evidenced for his goal. Tricky thing is when heās one of four forwards against six backs though.
I reckon Waterford will be good. A lot of people writing them off, but they do have some very good players and are well capable of beating any of the Munster teams.
Not one of Fergal Horganās better days here. Fucking hell.
Agreed. He left a lot of fouling go.
Thought we played okay actually and were a bit unfortunate overall, especially McDonaldās effort off the post at the end.
While Limerick missed some handy chances at various stages in the second half, we got a run of three in a row to bring it back to 1-14 to 2-10. Morris (easy enough) and OāKeeffe (trickier) then passed up opportunities to level it before our lineball woes struck again.
We duffed a lineball for the umpteenth time on the day and OāDonovan knocked over the resulting lineball for them. A rare day when our freetaking was alright and we conspire to find another element of the game to mess up. Foley gave away a point when coming out with the ball as sweeper after that (did likewise in first half) so some of the same failings within that system.
Thought Shane Reck did well enough when he came on. Iād persist with Foley at sweeper if weāre going to keep playing it (can we try something else please?) I think Iād play Chin midfield this season instead of half forward and tell him to maraud the fuck up and down the park. We need a spark. McGovern needs games (a bit concerning that he couldnāt catch Condon in a sprint back in the first half). OāHanlon has regressed and is struggling for pace. Not sure following deep playing half forwards upfield and then chasing them back suits him. Saw enough glimpses from Dunbar to think he can be dangerous later on.
Other than those specific player comments, thereās the recurring system issues. Sweeper not really keeping our tally conceded low enough. Giving the ball away working it up through the lines and conceding from it. Not getting enough ball into our outnumbered forwardsā hands. We still are a sprinkling of players short unfortunately.
