Allianz National Football League 2023

How so? Two places definitely going to westmeath and a Connacht team but any more should need a surprise in a provincial semi final (cavan could turn over Armagh)

My understanding. Is the two promoted are guaranteed? And anyone from division 3 or lower who makes it takes the third from bottom slot? Which would be one of the Connachts. Am I wrong?

Roscommon gave that one to Mayo today

Disgraceful from Bannigan feigning injury to get a lad sent off there

John Daly is the best CB in the country

Andy Moran’s Leitrim

Poor reporting there from Joanne as she says it’s all still to play for in Division 4 with Wicklow still to play Sligo. Sure Sligo beat them in Aughrim about a month ago.

Wicklow have two relatively handy ones left. Leitrim have to play both Laois and Sligo so they’ll need a favour somewhere.

The league is the perfect format really

Looking at the fixtures there, Mayo are almost certainly going to find themselves in a league final the week before they play the Rossies in the dog-eat-dog Connacht championship. Whoever finishes 2nd could pick up a very handy league title. Galway v Kerry in Salthill the last day of the league likely to be the decisive game.

What happens the loser of the championship match ? Back door ?

No back door as we know it, it’s the round robin league stuff. Presumably the draw is potentially much harder if you are not provincial champions though. In any case Mayo will be going all out to win the most prestigious of the provincial titles, they won’t risk anything the week before they play the Rossies.

I’m genuinely shocked at kelly feigning injury there. I thought he would have been above that sort of carry on

Yeah, he didn’t seem the ‘type’

Agreed.

Me too, but you’d wonder what sort of stuff had gone on beforehand. Anyhow, he’s young and he’ll learn.

He’s 5 or so years playing intercounty football. He’s no daw.

I’d put the blame on @CLGMaighCuilin as a whole tbh. Thankfully the honourable Watty’s sorted them out when it mattered.

I think its the fact its Sean Kelly involved that makes it worse. Hes all you could want in a county captain and player and this is certainly embarrassing.

If it was a nordie that did it wouldn’t be as bad as you’d expect it…
