Angry Metalheads & Punks

Going through boxes of CDs. A few cracking Jello Biafra-related albums here. All 3 are highly recommended. Jesus, that Lard album is a fucking brute!

@anon7035031 - how much of a Meshuggah fan is that young fella of yours?!

A lot bigger than I am I assure you

You need to sort that shit out

Would new wave of new wave music fit into this thread, I was big into some of those bands in the early 90s, I know I’ll be fucked out of it but I’ll give it a go.

Although I have some CDs of bands along those lines, you’re right. You will be fucked out of it…

Get the fuck out of it. The Manic Street Preachers were closer to metal and punk than these chancers. No, the sort of music I’m looking for here is along the lines of my last 3 posts.

The sort of thing I’d expect to fly in under the punk banner would be along the lines of proto-punk (stooges), old school (ramones, clash), hardcore (black flag, dead kennedys, minor threat), and some of the LA punk bands (as long as they’re politically motivated, e.g. bad religion).

Here’s an example of what I would class as a good tune to post here - an 18 min punk rock epic:

It was to be expected, I never for a second felt I would get the green light but that music was a big part of my formative years, I spent a lot of time in London during the mid 90s and the scene was huge for a while. I wouldn’t inflict it on the regulars in the smashing tunes thread so I gave it a shot here.
To be fair there is a definite punk element to the music, more so than the Manics, there’s a passing resemblance to the Ramones.
Anyway I’ll leave it there for that and try out some original new wave, will this pass muster

Yes. I was looking for a decent video of The Skids playing Into the Valley, but no joy.

Some Bad Religion instead…

I’m up for another fucking out of it here I’d say but as a non metalhead/punk with a passing interest in both genres I’m interested in Ironmoths take on some of the tunes that come up on my playlists from time to time, here’s another that reminds me of building sites in NYC 1995, these guys did themselves no favours by having enormous mainstream success

Nice one pal. Good tune. Good album. I prefer the one that came before it, Ignition. Offspring had some very clever and topical lyrics, and never took themselves too seriously. Smart lads.

Here’s a nice ‘post-punk’ style tune from Ignition…just for you @backinatracksuit
