Mastodon playing the Academy on 15 August.
Will you be heading along? I hope the up the ante on their last gig there. Was a decent show, but just not at their best. Anthrax eclipsed them last year.
Stranglers - London Lady
“…making love to the Mersey Tunnel with a sausage; have you ever been to Liverpool?..”
What a fucking lunatic
Misfits - Where Eagles Dare
One of the few bands I can honestly say I have pretty much everything they ever released (well, Danzig era anyway).
Síos?
In two minds. Obviously a tune up for some festival or other but fair play to them for continuing to play the small venue. That said I was so what disappointed that they didn’t play more of the classics the last time they played the Academy. I saw them in Marlay Park years ago supporting Metallica and they were outstanding, notwithstanding some sound problems.
Agreed. I saw them supporting Tool on the 10,000 days tour and they rocked that night too. Last album was also a disappointment. They seem to be stagnating and the simple fact is there are some excellent progressive metal bands out there at the minute.
@Fagan_ODowd @PhattPike - for fans of prog / stoner / mastodon…
These guys have a new album out, and if it’s anything like this I can’t wait to get a listen. The change in tempo @ 7:45 in this is nice - they break out a massive riff with some lovely lead work.
New Keepers of the Water Towers - Pyre for the Red Sage
You’ve had your fun now, lads. Pack it in.
Post reported.
That’s going right in my basket.
One for @Bandage, that unabashed lover of instrumental-Celtic-progressive-post-rock:

That New Keepers of the Water Towers album is a gem, right down to ‘Cosmic Child’, a little instrumental track that closes out the album
