Angry Metalheads & Punks

Have you heard the live album Under a Pale Grey Sky? Brilliant. From 96 I think.

Yeah. Max sounds like he is possessed.

Missed that night, had tickets for the one in march that was postponed allright

Saw them in the SFX for the chaos ad tour. Paradise lost playing support…unreal

I can’t believe Paradise Lost haven’t got a mention here before. Their new track is wicked, and Nick Holmes is a legend.

As a global crisis, it goes without saying Covid 19 has affected everyone and everything, including every aspect of the music industry. As a result, our record label Nuclear Blast offered us the chance to postpone the launch of our latest album ‘Obsidian’ to a less volatile time later in the year.

Taking this into consideration, and the fact the live music circuit is currently in lockdown, we think it’s unnecessary to postpone the release as we think our fans wouldn’t want to wait. Music can be enjoyed in practically any environment, so therefore we are going ahead with the same release date 15.5.20, and we sincerely hope our new album helps to lift your spirits, and is a beacon of light in the dark during these uncertain times! Thanks for your continuous support through the years and see you on the road!"

Chino’s battle with his guitar and sound tech :joy:

Hands down, best of the Seattle crowd. Jerry Cantrell absolutely peerless from that era.

This is absolutely haunting…

Look at the cunts fishing for cheap likes with AIC.

The best of most crowds mate. They moved seamlessly from intense, aggressive music to somber songs, underpinned by phenomenal musicians and one of the all-time great vocalists. Staley and Cantrell had this ability to use dissonance to build tension, but they always let the listener up for air with their harmonies.

Chino looks like a fat Nick Cotton from Eastenders.

Feel like the Alice in Chains unplugged album nicely captures the Layne era, even though he was like death warmed up on the album, I still think it’s pretty good.
There’s a good few hair rock/cock rawwwwk moments on Facelift, and a few here and there on the double EP. The self titled album, Layne’s last is decent, but too bloody long.
Nothing wrong with Jerry Cantrell’s solo stuff either, or the “new” Alice in Chains. All depends what you’re having. But that unplugged album is very good, warts and all. I think the extra guitar player they had on Scott Olsen, passed away in the last few years as well.
There’s a live album with Layne as well, with full band which isn’t bad either. Before he was totally fucked up on d’aul drugs. I had a cousin who was the spitting image of him, who sadly passed away at a young age as well.

Scotty Olson is still alive, AFAIK.

Not sure what you mean by the “Layne era” mate. Is it his last few years? If so, Mad Season’s album is a must listen.

My mistake. He has dementia. Layne era, I mean the time he was with AIC>#. Correct. The Mad Season album is fantastic. It’s the bass player out of Mad Season that died in the last few years.

Came across this band via a recommendation on the Mastodon Instagram or one of the lads in Mastodon posted a link, can’t recall. Full album is available to download for free on bandcamp. Not bad at all.

Mike Starr, yeah. Serious player. John Baker Saunders in Mad Season also died. All heroin-related I think.

yep…I had that re release of Mad Season a few years back with the extra videos etc. Layne was in an awful looking state…
