Annoying Office Jargon - Part III

We need to codify the cadence going forward

we need to increase velocity on these deliverables

the customer is looking for a soup to nuts solution*

  • I have no fucking idea what this means

We are getting new chairs in the next few weeks. An email went around today saying one of the new chairs will be premiered in the building tomorrow and to feel free to go to the designated place to sit on it and test it out. :o

Not so much office jargon, just something amusing. One of my friends who is a minion/excel jockey/general dogs body in the firm like myself emailed a superior of his in relation to something one of two of senior executives were supposed to complete but had failed to do so. Showing his frustration in the email to his superior he labelled the subject “FML”. Not really reading the email properly, his superior just forwarded the email to the two senior executives asking that they complete their required tasks as soon as possible. A full blow email trail is now in progress with the subject line “FML”.

Typing it out I just realized the story isn’t that funny but I found it amusing.

FML.

 I missed this.

How are they working out bandage?

I’admire their subtlety in attempting to make sure the new chairs would cater for Bandage before they commited to the purchase.

What are there chairs made out of?

Eh steel…

Cadence is becoming a big buzz word in here.
It’s rivalling synergy these days.

I was at a meeting during the week and someone used the term ‘tool box talk’ - “we’ve introduced tool box talks every morning since the start of the year”. I asked what it meant. It means general operatives having a group chat every morning before getting down to work. They can air any potential issues that may arise in advance and things can be sorted out before becoming a problem. ‘Tool box’ is used because it’s a forum involving the staff who actually do the work on the floor rather than the management who oversee them. These tool box talks empower them apparently. FFS.

That term has been used for donkeys years to highlight important issues that need addressing. I’m very surprised you’ve only come across it now.

Not being aware of some stupid jargon term isn’t worthy of a  from you.

:guns:

Sounds more like a load of tool boxes talking.

Our lot are big into ‘alignment’ at the moment.

A new one gathering momentum in my place is ‘eyeball’.

Context is thinking it necessary to meet someone face to face to discuss an important matter.

“We didn’t get much out of that conference call…I think we need to eyeball him…”

Jaysus Bandage welcome to the 21st century.

“granular”

this is probably the oldest one in the book but if i hear it once more today ill go all michael douglas falling down on all of New Ross…

“moving forward”

are we going to move backwards i dont fookin think so.

Go ahead and do them all a favour.

A bit proactive for Wexford surely? Is it not common practice there to just leave someone to rot in their own armchair?

very true mac, might be considered genocide as they would all be polish
