Another Attack on Rural Ireland

Are there viable alternatives available to them? It’s not really excpetionalism if they’ve no other choices

Would their great grandparents have cycled about mostly?

Yeah. And walked too. But those people may also have had more time on their hands they could lend to transport. Would you have them cycle and walk in that Nenagh example I mentioned?

It depends. Why do they insist on coming into town to work at all? Can they drive electric? Driverless cars will sort all these issues in time.

What I think myself is that we are codding ourselves about making the changes that we need to make or that we will make and we will fail massively. The targets for electric car use for example don’t seem realistic. If we are to actually make our targets, the changes in lifestyles are going to be fairly extreme. People might be stuck in nenagh.

Also, this should be a focus for future economies as more and more jobs get taken over by AI. Most technological advances that should have saved workers time have had the opposite effect. As jobs become automated it would be good to see hours reduced rather than the number of jobs reduced.

Is the fella who goes on 3 or 4 foreign holidays a year and eats his own body weight of red meat every week lecturing people about driving to work when there are no alternatives?

Smash burger king should be a vegan as there are ready alternatives to his lifestyle.

What are you on about now?

Don’t worry about it mate I just find your staggering lack of self-awareness highly entertaining.

Ditto your ability to take issue with things that were never said and get your knickers all in a knot about them.

I could take that argument a bit more seriously if there weren’t continued large scale efforts to build one-off houses away from villages/towns.

Town planning approves it. That aside, does that null and void the true issue for you?

On this topic, I had a look there recently at bus options from Limerick to Killarney for an intranational business trip on behalf of a subordinate, expecting that they may only arrive down there at 10am or even 11. I was stunned to see the earliest bus they could get would only leave Limerick at 10:30.

Limerick isn’t London or Tokyo. What rush is on anyone to get to Killarney, by the time you get a breakfast and all that…….

Not asking for a bullet train, just a simple auld bus that might get down before noon would be a nice option.

Exception to what like? Stay in your shitty urban areas, suck on yer avocados and and and fuck the fuck off from the rest of us. Good lad.

Nothing quite like a one/off house out in the country. Bitta space. Maybe a Ford Raptor then to tip down to the shops
