Another Attack on Rural Ireland

I actually agree with you. But when there’s a government made up of landlords, and people keep landlords in power, what’s to be done.
Rename Leinster House the House of 'Lords and be done with it.

eh, the opposition is made up of landlords too

how many of them are recently put up for rent?

@Little_Lord_Fauntleroy @estebandaface here we are lads again - “you’re wrong, I’m right” “fuck ye, what about us” and the shit goes on and on…

Leave @thelimericks holiday homes out of this

True. So…how do we get legislation in to fix it?

If a Dub comes in with the opener of Muldoons wanting to live in Dublin or some such, it’s all fair, right?
Thems fighting words

Thems are. And I’ll fight no bother. But I’d rather work with people and see things for what they are. If @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy wants 15 metre wide cycle lane from the Spire to Doonbeg to open a show house in one of these properties I’d do it.

Paul Murphy :transgender_flag: on Twitter: “Unfortunately his punch line fell flat as I told him that I actually live outside of the M50. It was such a weird example of fake “rural Ireland” populism. A government Minister peddling the idea that city folks are coming for your sports, jobs and lifestyles.” / Twitter

I see further down in the timeline Paul Murphy is standing up for farmers. Great to see our elected officials trying to protect the agriculture industry that the wokesters are trying to shut down

Peddling the idea City Folks are coming for your sports, jobs and lifestyles when really all they want to do is ban farming, cars and any sports involving animals

we want to ban cars everywhere mate, we arent picking on you
greyhound racing isnt a sport mate

Banning cars in a city is very different to banning cars in the countryside.

More rural Ireland exceptionalism.

Is it exceptionalism or just plain fact of life? Public transport can’t be offered as is unfeasible even if rural dwellers wanted it.

I really don’t think people have realised how much their lifestyles are going to have to shift. Things we consider facts of life are going to collide with much bigger facts of life.

i agree with you entirely on that but to say its rural exceptionalism is a bit unfair is all.

its rediculously inefficient in some parts. Prime example, the train for Nenagh during the week would get to Limerick after 930. How there isnt a service to ensure people could be at their desk for 9am is ridiculous.

If they want to be an exception then it’s exceptionalism, isn’t it? Lots of the debate around climate change measures is full of the “that would be too difficult for us to do, someone else should do it” variety. It really hasn’t hit home at yet. It won’t in time either. We’re most likely fucked.
