Apple iPad

If your planning on putting any videos movies etc on it 16 gb is going to be quite small I think

I set up a 16GB ipad for someone recently and it filled up very quickly. A few GB’s of Apps, then 5GB of music and then you’d be lucky to fit two films on it. The 16GB is a waste of time imo.

Yeah mine is 32 gb and would fill it handy enough with maybe 10 hrs of video

An iPad isn’t a storage device!

I know. But it is handy to store things on it if you are going to be travelling etc

There’s a huge price difference between the 16 and the 32 though. I was thinking of just keeping all the music and films etc on the external hard drive and just adding playlists and a movie as I need them via the laptop. I’ll be spending more time traveling in the future and most my personal laptop use is spent on the net and listening to music but it’s gone painfully slow knackered. I think the iPad would be a grand solution to what I need.

But it would be nice to be able to store more than 16GB on it, rather than have to constantly be swapping stuff off and on.

Ya, 2RE the price difference is big. I wouldn’t spend that much on one myself. They are a nice toy.

Well I was putting a bit aside since Xmas with the idea of getting one of the Toshiba Satellite laptops but work has provided me with an excellent machine so I reckon I’ll just get the toy instead now for myself.

It all depends on what you want it for, 32gb is still very small, you’ll end up doing as much swapping around with the 32 as the 16, so for the difference in price the 16 is the better option in my opinion.

Can’t you store your music etc in the ‘cloud’ (whatever that is) rather than on the ipad? Got an ipad lately, handy for web. Usually can’t use it because the kids are playing angry birds.

Yes, but you would still need to have the items on the device if you want to listen to them on the move if your ipad has wifi only.

Got a tethering ad on for the phone to get around the wifi only problem with my iPad, cheaper than signing up for a separate contract too.

Anyone have a tablet that allows you to create multiple user profiles on it?
Say if it was going to be shared within a team.

Lacking in all tablets at the moment as far as I know. Enterproid might present some sort of solution:

That’s disappointing. You’d image there would be a demand for it in enterprise. I believe the Windows 8 based tablets will have it but that could be a bit away yet.

You are right Runt.

Win7 Tablets would allow multiple users. They are not exactly designed for tablet though.

Win8 would do too. Any of ye played around with the beta yet?

I have downloaded it.
I plan to have it burned onto a DVD at some stage and would then hope to have it installed on a machine here before the end of next week.

Good solid timeline.

“Draw Something”. What an app. Get a few random players, draw stuff, guess it and keep going. Personally, being 38 years old I thought “Ya, it’s a little immature” but then once I stopped tweaking my nippels I found it really enjoyable!
Yours in app help,

It’s about to kick off.
These tablet wars.
