If you root it and install the latest android system on it you’ll have a machine comparable to any other tablet on the market.

How does the wireless charging work?

It charges your phone wirelessly

:shakefist:

How?

By using wireless technology

It uses magnetic induction charging like in Electric tooth brushes.

Problem is you still need to plug in the charger, either USB or mains.

But it means you can charge on the move. Probably become popular on buses, trains, coffee shops, etc. Dare I say pubs!

I THINK it involves a base unit (which you connect the phone into) and then a transmitter plugged into the socket.
Some electromagnetic wizardry then charges the phone.

Thank you Runt. A pity Julio the foolio wouldn’t answer my question directly, the cunt.

This wireless charging thing is a load of shit.

Why?

This is really worth a bump because the ad that Samsung have created is absolutly top notch and should be watched by anyone with a SmartPhone.

The amount of hype that surrounds Apple products is ridiculous. I’ve had an iPhone for 5 or 6 years now but that’s because they were genuinely something new when they hit the market and cracking them and messing around with apps was interesting to me. They have barely moved the phone on at all in the last 3 years and have gotten incredibly arrogant and lazy.

If I could short sell Apple stock I would. Their bubble feels like it’s about to burst. Their whole value is based on 2 products.
Their competitiors are coming for them in both areas… HARD.
If either or both products stop being cool [and let’s face it, the fanboys depicted in this ad are so ridiculously fickle] then the whole value of Apple will collapse.

Here is the full ad. It’s a beauty.
Kudos to Samsung

Oh and I was watching NFL on GamePass last night from 6pm to 1am.
This ad was on constantly in the US last night. MASSIVE ad buy.

Huh? I answered exactly what you asked.

Wireless Electricity is as old as harnessed Electricity itself, Tesla invented some power stations which would have made the need for wires, pylons etc. redundant. It was difficult to charge for though so the big electric companies ganged up and shut him down.

It’s a great ad. Without Jobs Apple is faltering, in a big way.

@CLD

What are your thoughts on the Kindle Fire?

Couldn’t be arsed bumping the mobile phone thread so this will do. My HTC Sensation is busted so through insurance I didn’t know I had I’m being given a replacement. They’re giving me 3 options

  • HTC One X - Endeavour
  • Samsung Galaxy S II (2) - Black
  • Nokia Lumia 800

Anyone care to offer any opinions on the above?

The Lumina is a good phone but wouldn’t be going for a Windows Mobile yet. Samsung S2 is hard to knock but see if they’ll stretch to an S3.

yeah would go with that too. S3 looks a good phone.

the missus has an S2 and its pretty good. and if you ever did want to venture down the route of rooting and setting up your own software set up on it, there is lots of info out there on how to do it.

Also the Lumia is Windows Phone 7.5 which cannot be upgraded to Win8 Phone due to the underlying technology being changed for the Win8 phone.

If it was a Win8 phone I’d tell you to roll with that as the Win 7.5 are a huge step up from the original Win7 which was average at best. That upgrade bit is all that would hold me back. Do you have the option of adding cash and stepping up to the S3?

Chewy I like the look of the Fire. I was tempted by it but didn’t see a genuine need for it.
It’s not a laptop replacement so it’s just another device that I don’t really need. The Win8 “Surface” tablets will be interesting when they land in a month or so. The top line Surface tablets running Windows 8 Pro or Windows 8 Enterprise should be genuine laptop replacements.

Does it have the same problems as the S1 in relation to crap battery and poor 3G connectivity? I’m due an upgrade this week from my Samsung Galaxy but have had serious issues with it in relation to this. Not getting an iphone so will get an S2 or S3 if they don’t have these issues.
