They won’t let me go for the S III. I’ve a dislike for Samsungs for some reason as well. I’ve gone for the HTC.
Who have you the insurance with Mac? What kind of a story did you have to give them to get a new phone? I have been paying insurance on my phone for the last 2 years and could do with ‘losing’ it if there was a chance of getting a new one off the insurance crowd.
I’ve been paying Vodafone directly apparently. Never even realised. The battery was fucked in the phone. I sent it off for a warranty repair and was told it was beyond repair due to moisture damage or being dropped. I’d to contact www.staymobile.ie with all the details and they process it. €35 excess has to be paid. I know of some one who ‘lost’ a phone before for insurance purposes. Simple enough apparently but phone and SIM will be permanently blocked and you need to get a garda to sign the form. Saying you lost it in a pub or nightclub is the easiest way apparently.
Or in a taxi.
Don’t think it has issues with poor 3G connectivity - none that I’ve ever noticed anyway. I find the iPhone goes to Edge far more often than the Samsung does. Battery life is ok. No better or worse than other decent smartphones I’ve tried - though the first generation of Androids did have crap battery life.
Cheers mate-I often have issues where I can’t get connected to the interweb and one of my smarmy git friends with an iphone sat beside me can-very frustrating but a work colleague with the S2 also tells me that he doesn’t ever have that issue. Maybe my hardware is fucked. Battery lasts less than 24 hours from fully charged even if I’m barely using it.
Would you not be due an upgrade then?
Just smash it and send it to them with a letter saying new phone please.
My Kindle Fire HD arrives tomorrow
Let me know what you make of it, pal.
They’re advertising this on US TV, seems awfully gimmicky from the ad.
this shit is the bomb
I was playing with the new version of Visual Studio recently and started making Win8 apps.
Was easier than I expected.
So with that in mind I’d like to announce that my Surface is arriving next week.
Went with the 32GB one with the blue keyboard. Expanding it to 96GB with a 64GB microSDXC card and an OS hack.
How are you finding this fella puke. I have to say I was tempted by it for a while.
Truth be told I have only used it while travelling thus far but it is very convenient. The fact that Amazon give you cloud storage with it meaning you can leave everything in the cloud and download it to the Kindle is very handy. Doubt I will use it aside from when travelling though. £160 is reasonable and it is fairly user friendly but I wouldn’t pay much more for one all the same as I couldn’t see the use to justify the spend
Just arrived!
Yeah boy.

Where the ipad will struggle is the fact that it doesn’t really fill a need, like the iphone or ipod did. There aren’t many situations where you’ll end up thinking, fuck it if only I had an ipad. As far as I know it’s lacking a lot of the functionality that a netbook would have, flash support, USB, multitasking (apparently the bookstore on it is class though).

looking at a ipad in dcu there few weeks ago… such a waste of money… anybody who would bother buying one should be locked up
Our technical guru’s as up to date as always
Their points are valid. They just underestimated the fickleness of people to want the shiny new thing from those cool guys who make white things. The Ipad remains a glorified giant iPhone.
There’s no accounting for the amount of retards in the world Mac. The points above are still valid and I think if they brought down the price of the new surface pro it would blow the IPAD out of the water, particularly in Enterprise, my only fear is that is has come a year too late. The surface pro is touting itself as a laptop replacement. The IPAD could never fulfill that function.
What’s a surface pro? (Yes I’m too lazy to look it up)
Also, what’s the difference from an iPad to a mini iPad?
Finally, how do the Google ones, Nexus 4 or 7 I think compare to their Apple counterparts.
