It is. We usually do 4-5k in 90 mins but that’d be mixed up sprints, endurance, and IM.
Boredom would be your biggest problem. It will/would take immense mental strength to do that on your own every day.
If you can find a swimming club it’d help no end, but good luck to you. If you want it, you can do it. Don’t be too hard on yourself though, genuinely. Mix long sessions with a good few shorter ones. If the drudgery gets you, it’ll be hard to go back.
Have a target event, like galway bay.
When at max, I still only swim for the full 90 mins three times a week and maybe 45 twice. That’ll get you across the bay

Ah right, you’ll do that no bother. You’ll build up to 5k a session quicker than you think.
She did me an hour of a session for the summer whilst I was abroad.
