Getting back to the game.
For me, in one way Germany and Argentina were both winners. However, in another more accurate way, Germany was the winner.

From the Guardian (via the BBC Gossip Column):
The âVVIP guest listâ for the World Cup final included film stars Daniel Craig and Ashton Kutcher, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Gabon counterpart Ali Bongo, basketball star LeBron James - and former Leeds midfielder Olivier Dacourt :D.
without being a donkey, do you not think Muller gives the ball away an awful lot or his touch lets him down quite often?..
hummels is slow and whats worse is he seems to get isolated too often which really exposes it⌠really think Tevez would have absolutely cleaned him if he were thereâŚ
i would agree with this statement
Eamonn doesnât think Germany will go on and dominate. Not surprising because he told us two years ago that they were finished as a group of players (despite a very young average age).
Hummels getting a bit of stick for a lack of pace. Heâs not slow for a centre back. He was up against a couple of very quick players in Lavezzi and Messi. Theyâre talking about his pace like itâs a mental weakness for him.
how do you remember what Dunphy said two years ago?
I do think that he hasnât much else to his game but goals. And his goal scoring record cannot be argued with.
I find it mad that Dunphy, paid how much to âexpertlyâ talk about football, can spout on for half an hour about how shit Muller is and then talk about him in this tournament as being brilliant, as if the earlier rant never happened.

I donât think Dunphy is to be taken seriouslyâŚheâs only there for the wind upâŚ
I use my memory as an aid for recollecting things.
Hummels isnât slow for a centre back. Messi did him with a change of pace last night, he didnât outright burn away from him. He spent much of the first half covering for Howedes who got caught up the pitch too often.
I actually remembered hummels getting burned and Howedes got back and lifted man ball and all with a slide tackleâŚHummels is dog slow and not clever about it eitherâŚ
Youâre wrong. But carry on anyway.
schadenfraude !..
While he didnât actually have to save any of these efforts, I donât think you can understimate the influence Neuer had over the poor finishing of the Argentinians. Against a keeper of lesser reputation I think they might have showed a little more composure in front of goal, in fact I donât think they wouldâve thought as much about what they were going to do, they would have just slotted, Messi especiallyâŚFacing Neuer, they were trying too hard to make sure he couldnât get near it, and as a result they ended up missing the target completely. He is, without doubt, the greatest keeper in the World right now, and one of the greatest weâve ever seen in my opinion.
Eh absolutely not.
I have seen him make howlers though, one in particular against Man Utd for Schalke in 2011.
@Rocko, have you seen more?

Oh he has made plenty of howlers alright. A good few when leaving his box. But he prevents so many chances from even developing properly by his movement off his line that itâs almost impossible to evaluate those properly, particularly on tv.
Not an error, but one very memorable incident was the Stankovic volley against Schalke in the Champions League after a good header from Neuer:

He had one for Germany when he was dribbling out of his box against some eastern team, canât remember who. But he doesnât tend to make them on shots as often. That one against United, was that the year he was brilliant in the first leg?
