While he didn’t actually have to save any of these efforts, I don’t think you can understimate the influence Neuer had over the poor finishing of the Argentinians. Against a keeper of lesser reputation I think they might have showed a little more composure in front of goal, in fact I don’t think they would’ve thought as much about what they were going to do, they would have just slotted, Messi especially…Facing Neuer, they were trying too hard to make sure he couldn’t get near it, and as a result they ended up missing the target completely. He is, without doubt, the greatest keeper in the World right now, and one of the greatest we’ve ever seen in my opinion.

Thats shocking mental weakness from all those attackers. A great striker would see a keeper for what he is, someone who wasn’t good enough to play outfield.
