You need to be removing more of the vowels early on.

Explain today’s machinations here malarkey ? I’d imagine there must always be rakes of words it could still be on guess three.

On mine today for eg it could have been any word ending in ST on guess 3

I’d argue you wasted a second T and not having 2 vowels there. I’d also say M is more common than J so probability would be higher on that. Looking at your first guess, some would fancy a 2 there. Joust or one of the oist words with a double vowel would have served you better.

The very least it could be after guess two for anyone is a one in 4 shot though surely? Odds are always against you. maybe I’m wrong though maths wouldn’t be my strong point. Or words says you

I’m assuming

Shark was a peculiar first guess?:thinking:

Given the letters left, you were in pretty much exact same spot as me – foist? hoist? moist? – and made same choice. The difference: you knew j was gone.

Broke my own ‘rule’ with ‘shard’. Guessed ‘chard’ before it.

More generally, not a mad amount of five letter words ending in ‘st’ and not containing a or e or u. Double letters not common in Wordle, which tends to put ‘boost’ to back of queue. The absence of t and r is a big help.

‘ist’ or ‘ost’ words – ‘twist’, ‘whist’, ‘shist’, ‘ghost’ – would have been the main roads not taken. I think it was sensible to include both of the remaining vowel choices in third line. An outside choice would have been ‘midst’.

So, not rakes of words at that point, I would say.

Not really. I had a dog called Shark once.
But I had to change his name as we got banned from KIlkee…
