We are being heavily linked with Nilmar now, according to reports we have agreed personal terms and now have to negotiate a fee with Villarreal, who value him at €20m where we believe €14m is a fairer reflection on his abilitiy. We have another problem as Nilmar is a non-EU player and we’d probably need to sell or get rid of a non-EU player to a club outside of Italy. Simplicio and Barusso are two players we are desperately trying to rid ourselves of.

Borriello has been linked with a return to Genoa today.

Sabatini has said we will definitely sign another 3 or 4 players for the first team squad, finally, we have loaned out Stoian, Crescenzi and Sini to Bari.

Caprari seems the most likely of the youngsters to make the breakthrough this season - Viviani, Antei and Verre are the other youngsters that have been given squad numbers this season.
I heard today that Chamakh of Arsenal is linked with a move to Roma, would be a good signing i think…
Totti et al, how do you think we’re fixed now? Any other signings in the pipeline before the season start?
Things have gone quiet on the Nilmar front, the latest name being mentioned in Pablo Osvaldo of Espanyol. Osvaldo’s a good player but Nilmar is more flexible and a better fit in the system Enrique will be playing. It all depends on who else comes in, we need a centre back, two midfielders and an attacker.
Barruso and Okaka were attacked at the training ground the other day, Barusso for turning down two moves and Okaka for refusing to sign autographs. We need to get shot of Barruso and Simplicio to free up spaces for non EU players.
I’m happy with the players that we’ve brought in so far, it’s just the sheer scale of the restructuring needed that will make it difficult. I’m also excited at Enrique’s vision and the game he talks, but until it starts to formulate on the pitch it counts for nothing.
So who are the new arrivals at the last count then Totti?
- Stekelenburg
- Jose Angel
- Loic Nego
- Bojan
- Lamela
I’m missing a couple?
Heinze.
We seem to be strongly interested in Lucho Gonzalez, Nilmar and Kjaer but whether we get them or not is another thing.
We could do with another two or more signings. Kjaer would be an insprired signing…
+1.
Kjaer would be fantastic. I would even sanction taking Aldair’s no.6 jersey out of retirement for him.
Team that starts tonights friendly against Valencia.
Lobont
Rosi Burdisso Heinze Jose AngelPerrotta Pizarro VivianiBorriello Totti Bojan
Perrotta has gone off injured, replaced by Verre.

Jose Angel looks a class act and I’ve been very impressed with young Verre since he came on.
1-0 Valencia, I gave Angel the kiss of death as just after praising him he gets robbed on the halfway line and Valencia score. Lobont was unimpressive in goal there.
2-0 Valencia, caught on the break.
2-0 at HT, could be alot more and has really stressed on the problems facing Enriqe. We actually started off well, for the first 20 or so minutes but Valencia have grown into the match. Verre and Viviani are too lightweight and are getting pushed off the ball and caught in possession too often, Pizarro’s lack of mobility is also telling. Heinze has been awful at centre half, rash decision making and awful decision making have characterised his performance. Rosi has had a nightmare at full back, looking clueless when players run at him and helpess when a ball is played in over him. Borriello is a waste of a jersey too and we should be looking to sell him. Jose Angel has had a good first half despite being responsible for the opener.
Stekelenburg, Cicinho, Cassetti on for Lobont, Heinze and Rossi.
Bojan hit the bar there a minute ago.
Francesco Totti, he takes no shit from anyone and dishes out his own justice.
have you a link for this?
Things learned from tonight.
[]4 new players that will go straight into the first team is an absolute must (centre back, 2 midfielders and an attacker)
[]Cassetti is a better option at centre back than Heinze is
[]Cicinho is a better option at right back than Rosi is
[]Verre and Viviano are not ready for the first team
[]David Pizarro is finished
[]Marco Borriello does not fit into this system and must be sold

Bojan, Jose Angel and Stekelenburg look like good signings
Players who did not feature tonight were De Rossi, Nego, Lamela, Curci, Greco, Brighi and Juan. Perrotta also came off injured early.
Totti and Perrotta are out for Slovan on Thursday, as are Juan, Greco and Pizarro. Lamela is also unavailable.
I suspect we will line up as follows:
StekelenburgCassetti Burdisso Heinze AngelSimplicio De Rossi BrighiTaddei Borriello Bojan
Very big chance of an upset in this one.
In transfer news, Osvaldo looks like signing for Atletico. The Italian press seem certain that Kjaer will join us before the deadline and Sabatini’s main target for midfield is Casemiro.
