Totti is a man of outright class.

RIP Franco.

Three years ago, beloved Roma president Franco Sensi passed away and Francesco Totti, their legendary club captain, today paid respect and spoke about his affection for the former icon.

The Sensi family owned Roma from 1993 until this past summer, through both Franco and his daughter Rosella.

Don’t Miss

Speaking on his official website, Totti notes that times has done little to dull the pain: "Three years ago my president passed away, leaving his loved ones and us all behind.

"Even after three years I think of him often, that which he was for Roma and for me: a unique and most important reference point.

"I remember him with affection and gratitude, the same feelings I have towards the entire Sensi family; with them I will always be close.

“They accompanied me for most of my career and I will never forget what they have done for me.”

Thomas Di Benedetto’s takeover of the capital side, set to be officially completed tomorrow, will make him the first American president in the club’s history.

Lovely words by one great man for another.

Team tonight:

Stekelenburg; Cicinho, Burdisso, Cassetti, Angel; Viviani, Brighi, Simplicio; Caprari, Okaka, Bojan

Lost 1-0 to a side with a front two of Filip Sebo and Milos Lacny. :o

Pablo Osvaldo is in Rome discussing an impending transfer.

Osvaldo is expected to join today for €15m. Borriello has been made available for transfer.

So that’s a one-in-one-out direct replacement if we can sell Marco, nothing personal against Marco, he just wasn’t not suited to our system and can’t play together with the wonderful Totti. Osvaldo is much more flexible and can play out wide if we need him there.

In other news, still strong talk about Kjaer. Fernando of Porto is being strongly linked with us for a bargain fee of €11m :o . Fenucci (our new CEO) has suggested, vaguely, that we will sign another attacker that we have not been linked with yet, some believe that person to be Afellay - would be a superb signing but I don’t think it’s likely. Casemiro is still being strongly associated with a move to Roma, we are reported to have bid €14m for him, Inter are also interested. Davide Santon is another player who has been mentioned with us - but there doesn’t seem to be much in this one.

I wouldn’t think Afellay is likely either.

Tell me more about Osvaldo’s style of play etc.

He’s a robust and mobile forward, but he is very technical and possess some quick feel. He is not particularly quick, not slow either. A very good finisher and reasonably good in the air too. If I was to compare him to other players, I would say he is a cross between Shane Long and Gonzalo Higuain. He’s got Long’s bustling and forceful play and technical and finishing abilities similar to Higuain.

He was a bit of a flop in Italy before with Fiorentina and Bologna but has been impressive since moving to Espanyol (20 goals in 44 La Liga games). He is also much more effective when played through the middle, but also flexible to play out wide in a front 3 - although not as effective.

We’ve agreed a fee with Espanyol for Osvaldo, the deal should be completed in the next couple of days.

Borriello has been linked with Liverpool, Spurs, Fulham and PSG today.

Lads, have Totti and Enrique had an argument? My Italian isn’t up to scratch but there seems to be some negative sentiment towards the ‘new project’ in the media over the past few days.

The media are trying to create a storm I think. Totti and Perrotta were ruled out against Slovan, but both ended up coming off the bench along with Borriello. The press then ran a story saying Totti and Borriello were furious at Okaka and Caprari being chosen ahead of them. I don’t think there is a great deal in it.

Right lads, some solid info here along with some more speculative links.

Now for the more speculative pieces.

[]The talk on Fernando has cooled down somewhat in the last few days which has brought about some new names.
[
]Fernando Gago has been linked with a loan move to us.
[]We apparently have bid €7m for Montolivo.
[
]We have also upped our bid for Nilmar.

Pablo Daniel Osvaldo feels he has made the right decision in joining Roma from Espanyol, after a deal was struck to take the striker back to Italy.

As revealed by Goal.com on Tuesday, the 25-year-old will join Luis Enrique’s side for a fee of €18 million, where he has signed a four-year contract with the capital club.

The marksman has since expressed his pleasure at the transfer, detailing the reasons why he chose to sign for Roma ahead of other interested suitors in his signature.

“I am very happy to be here,” Osvaldo told Fifa.com.

“I have chosen Roma because it is a great club. For me it is an honour to play alongside [Roma captain Francesco] Totti.”

Osvaldo was in line to make his Roman bow on August 28 against former employers Bologna, but the ongoing strikes may prevent him from doing so.

Another name I forgot to add in, who the Italian press have linked us with is Miguel Veloso.

We’re 1-0 up through Perrotta.

Totti showing some lovely touches here.

Playing some lovely football here but looking unsteady at the back. Young Caprari looks like a great prospect.

Verre comes in for Caprari.

Okaka replaces Totti.

C’e solo un capitano rings around the Olimpico.

Young Viviani with quite a wonderful tackle.

Ah here it’s 1-1. 5 mins to go and 2 goals needed.

We’re heading out, Rosi badly exposed at right back.
