It’s a big step down in quality going from EPL to Serie A.
Outside of Juventus, Italian teams really struggle in Europe which suggests it’s weak alright. Atalanta, who finished 3rd in Serie A were knocked out of the Europa League qualifying stages by Copenhagen.

Atlanta knocked Everton out last season didn’t they.
The serie a is tough just like the epl between the early 90s to the late 00s their club teams underperformed in Europe because of it. There isn’t an easy game in the serie a and teams get no chance of a mental break. Italian teams are at a huge disadvantage in Europe.
Everton are the 3rd best team in Merseyside. Atalanta are 3rd best in Italy.
They get a Winter break after Christmas, unlike in England
