Ashes 2015

Broad passes out the great Freddy Trueman to become Englandā€™s 4th best wicket taker.

Oz 224/6

Bad light stops play for the day. Australia 241/7 at stumps. Still another 90 runs required to avoid an innings defeat.

Finely poised now. A wicket a day looks achievable though.

Two years growth unravelled in two weeks. Truly awful dismissal again today. Thatā€™s scores of 7, 8, 5 & 6 at Edgbaston and Trent Bridge for the worldā€™s number 1 ranked batsman.

I regret not having the balls to say I didnā€™t rate him when he was creaming the ball all over the place at Lordā€™s. You know when someone crap is riding the crest of a lucky wave. Heā€™s actually weak, gutless, a bit of a pussy, arrogant and totally shit. Gimpy little prick.

Yeah, Iā€™d agree with all that. Never particularly rated him either. With all the focus on Clarke there hasnā€™t been too much focus on how awful Smith has been this series apart from the double century at Lords.

Actually feel a bit for Clarke. Clarke was the top batsman in the world for a good few years, probably the only great of the game in this Australian side and an excellent and brave captain. They keep banging on about a loss of form, but its more a case of a loss of his powers through a long accumulation of persistent back and hamstring injuries. Hope he retires after this Ashes series.

He was saying last April that England wouldnā€™t even come close to them. AB and Root are the best batsmen in the world right now.

They were all mouthing off as per usual. There was a lot of noise from Mitchell Starc in particular after Lordā€™s and before Edgbaston that England were running scared of Australia.

As far back as May in a lift in Sydney Brad Haddin was mouthing off to Fitzy that they were still celebrating winning the World Cup but would be ready to do a job on England when the Ashes rolled around.

The media in the colonies are reporting that Clarke has been informed that he will not be selected for the winter and is retiring after the 5th test.,

Glad to hear that. He stayed on a year too long. The extent of this debacle will be forgotten about in time and Clarkeā€™s legacy as a great player and a very good captain will ultimately be secure.

Two early wickets this morning with Starc and Hazelwood both departing for a duck - 248-9. One wicket away from regaining the Ashes.

England have regained the Ashes!

Australia all out for 252 as England win by an innings & 78 runs.

Should I lock this thread?

Hope Clarke can finish with an average of 50.

sadly the death of his friend while playing cricket has taken the fight out of him, the best batsman of all time

thanks for the memories clarkey

You must be joking? Lots of humble pie to be eaten from all the Captain Cook and England knockers.

Thereā€™s still a 5th test as well at the Oval.

At least Clarke scored enough yesterday to move ahead of that UUCOAM Hayden as 4th highest Aussie run maker.

A great vindication for those of us who predicted from a long way out that England would regain the urn.

There wasnā€™t too many of us. Was it just the two of us and Bandage that tipped England to regain the urn?
