Association Football International Test Match - Republic of Ireland v Iceland **THUNDERCLAP**

Any of our diehard supporters heading along to this one? So will begin the reign of Cyrus Christie as our medium to long term right back, so help us.

Game time for McGeady, Westwood, O Dowda, Hourihane and Horgan please.

I will be seething if the YBIG gombeens partake in that clapping malarkey

Weren’t the horrible bastards at it on Friday night?

Is there something to be done about this wanker with the trumpet?

@RaymondCrotty?

I’ll be going to the game but I only partake in the thunderclap during St Peter’s College, Wexford, matches.

i will be heading to this
i anticipate a dreadful contest similar to the Switzerland* game last year

*Kosovo

Call me a cynic, but I wonder this anything to do I wonder, with the 3 press opportunity with that kid from Laois, whereby the kid will be mascot tomorrow, with his favourite player, Robbie Brady?

Either way,

Great news, he should have been made captain after the Euros as he is our talisman.

Wardy should be vice-captain now. Fingal are supplying the two best players to the team.

You thunderclapped on Friday night (I didn’t) but you get some redemption from the fact you kept your hands down low while doing so.

Shut up.

You’re ruining what little INTERNET credibility I’m clinging onto.

Fuck sake @Bandage. Did you stand up for the boys in green aswell?

Yes, but I kept my shoes on.

So no O’Shea, Coleman, Walters, Whelan, McCarthy.

Maybe:

Randolph
Christie Keogh Egan Ward
Meyler Hourihane Hendrick
McGeady Murphy Brady

I think Murphy withdrew from both games last week so Long should probably be okay to start again - he’s only featured intermittently for Southampton so fatigue shouldn’t be an issue. Is Doyle the only other out and out striker left in the squad?

Aside from that, O’Neill said in the press conference this morning that a few players would likely get their debuts. I think Horgan, Hourihane and one of Boyle / Egan have a decent chance of starting. Anyone who doesn’t should be brought on.

I’d also give Westwood a game as I think he’s quite decent but has missed a load of Ireland games in the last few years. Think it’d be good to get him back involved should Randolph get injured or have a dip in form at any stage.

Assume this is only on Sky Sports tonight?

Think it’s an eir sport encounter.

Valuable world ranking points at stake here.

Looking ahead to a possible November World Cup play-off, those ties will be seeded using the world rankings.

Iceland (23) are one place ahead of Eire in the rankings.

Portugal (8) or Switzerland (11) will definitely be in the seeded Pot 1.
The same is the case with Spain (10) or Italy (15).

Holland who may or may not be involved in a play-off are 21 in the latest rankings.

Potential play-off participants Slovakia and Turkey are at 25 and 26 respectively.

So Eire are right on the borderline for being seeded in any potential play-off. It could be the difference between making it to Russia and not.
