I will be in attendance thanks to the professional and corporate courtesy of @briantinnion.
hospitality suite of course, with rumours of various corporate movers and shakers such as myself getting the opportunity to sign seamus colemans cast. Iām not sure if he has reserved a special carriage on the dart back to Fingal but I would imagine he has catered for all relevant needs. Much obliged @briantinnion.
The clamour for Cork and Portos karl Shepard to join the squad is becoming hard to ignore. I expect OāNeill is deciding which formations would play to his strengths .
He only intermittently features for Ireland also.
dont think keogh will start @Aristotle
id say heāll put andy boyle in beside Egan
id remove meyler and put in horgan also dropping brady back into that diamond thingy which could make for a more attacking side
heāll never go with horgan and macgeady id say
if it comes to a toss up between then, i think heād choose the former, the understanding is tha macgeady is a busted flush really and nothing new can be learned about him
their biggest issue is that he is very lazy without the ball and has no interest in winning it back, that grates a bit on the current regieme
Take back what you said about mcgeady or I will fucking glass you at the aviva tonight
Are you the mascot at the game tonight?
No,they picked him over me.
3 wingersā¦ McGeady or McClean central?
I must say Iām a little bit surprised that Hayes starts ahead of Horgan.
Glad to see Egan & Hourihane in.
Indication that Doyle may be utilised going forward?
Indication that Doyle may be utilised going forward?
If he wasnāt an option to be thrown on against ten men when we were non-stop putting balls into the penalty area I struggle to see why theyāll turn to him now
Iād say Doyle is being rewarded for not retiring and weāve no other backup options at the moment.
Horgan is in grave danger of becoming the next Hunt / McClean / Hoolahan already. Heās the second best Irish winger at Preston. Would be great to see him make it ad a regular international but the hype is a little over the top. Hayes is unlikely to set the world alight at this stage but heās probably a bit more reliable defensively in an emergency given his experience.
Hayes is 29 and will never be a regular starter for Ireland. Horgan potentially might be.
I canāt see how Hayes is that much more defensively reliable than Horgan that it gives him the edge in a non-friendly against Iceland. If it came to it that we had to throw one on in a competitive game with 15 minutes to go to try and get a goal, it would be Horgan every time.
As for him being the second best Irish winger at Preston, agreed. But the other one is starting. If Hayes was at Preston, would he be the third best Irish winger?
It doesnāt really matter but I would imagine itās more of a reward for Hayes for being in a quite a few squads and maintaining a consistent level of form over that period than anything else. Must be tough being in squad after squad and never really getting near the team.
Do friendlys count as games lads ? Iāve decided to give the old soccerball a go and support it. But Iāve read here before that friendlies donāt actually count at all.
Ps. @myboyblue. Iāll be very hurt if you attack me again.

What if we had an injury and we were already leading and needed to throw someone on for 15 minutes? That might be a scenario that would suit Hayes better. Heās no world beater, but neither is Horgan, yet anyway.
I really donāt see MON turning to Hayes in that situation either. He mightnāt turn to Horgan, but I donāt ever see Hayes getting on in a fixture of any importance.
Ah I think itās unlikely too. Just itās a team for a friendly and Hayes has been around the squad as you say and itās no harm giving him some game time. I think Horgan needs to continue to accrue games at club level but I assume heāll get a run tonight.
McClean played as a striker in a couple of games before the Euros and went centrally the other night too for the last 10 minutes. Walters does look like he might be coming to the end of his effectiveness and no harm to see McClean in this role again.
What station is this on
Eir sport 2.
Whatās all the fucking screaming about?
