Bizarre scenes with the Swiss sprinter Guntert in the 60m.
Was incorrectly disqualified for a false start due to faulty blocks. Successfully protested and was reinstated to run on his own. False started again, but was allowed another go as the blocks are acting up. He’s now just false started again and has gotten the road.

Lots of excuses from Israel from Derval. Yes he’s young but he should be doing better than that. Simple as that. Sounds like his prep was all over the shop.
He hadn’t been running well early in the season and there was lots of doubts he would be able to continue to improve. He silenced some of that in the nationals but put simply he didn’t perform today.
I do think he’s stronger over 100m than 60m as he tends to finish his outdoor races very strong. I always wondered what he’d do over 200m but he doesn’t seem to consider it at all
You’d think he’s more scope to improve over 100m and 200m than 60m. 60m is all about getting to maximum velocity in shortest period of time.
Ultimately I don’t think he has enough raw speed to contend. Under 20 100m world record is 9.91. Israel has a 100m 10.17 PB. It’s a chasm. Be interesting to see what he runs 100m in this summer.
