Didn’t seem to knock a spark out of the winner.

Serious pace.

A serious race, Sonia’s mile record gone,
Mary Decker Slaney still had the US record, Zola Budd UK before that race

You’d be as well off not giving someone like that oxygen. Irish Twitter is a nawful place but much like ewan, if you don’t follow him if he annoys you, you’ll have a much happier existence on the platform.

What Mageean did tonight was exceptional. Look at the times of those around her

A lot to be said for those Kenyan training methods, plenty of sleep and a good diet makes you run fast

She did seem to tie up a bit in the last 100m but that could have been as much down to running 2 all out races in the space of a few days as well. Big adjustment to the prep and setup for Diamond League races than college races.

She’s run 2 very good races in the last week so should be happy. Both will be big learning experiences ahead of the championships in Budapest where you’d be hoping she’ll make the final.

And the altitude of course. 1000s of meters above sea level (and testers).

National championships on RTE 2 now. Would’ve tipped out with the small poxes only for the weather.

Greg Allen and Peter Collins showing here why they are RTEs best sports broadcasters.

What happened? I heard him being fulsome in his praise for Brian Fay

Mentioned that he used text him after races.
