Athletics Thread

You should pursue the matter with Nenagh Town Council (or whatever its successor was following the recent local government realignment) who saw fit to commission a statue of Johnny Hayes.

I wasn’t aware that I had made any comment on where Johnny Hayes was born or which country he had represented in the Olympics. Interesting to note that Nenagh born Matt McGrath and Hayes were both members of the same club - The Irish American Athletic Club.

You incorrectly referred to him as local to Nenagh.
His parents did hail from the area hence his links to the town.
Let this be a salutory lesson in the dangers of using Wikipedia when wishing to post boring, mundane ‘facts’ on the internet.
Looking forward to finding out the annual turnover of PSV Eindhoven later on all the same.

I’d love to see the in-running price for UCC.

The 4 x 400m is box office

Ah that was just outstanding entertainment. Not to mention some of the handovers.

There was a one in the first leg of that who was practically jogging on the spot.
She must have been brought in to make up numbers or something.

Unlike many pitches there’s no hiding place on a track.

Lovely, Euros on RTE, Thomas Barr romped home in his heat just now, very impressive from lane 8

Fuck it, I didnt realise that. Thanks for the heads up. Great news about Barr.

Just seen Gillick didnt make it through. Pity.
