Is Bolt too big to fail? It’d be the end of athletics* if something came out about him.

*well it’d be pretty bad anyway.

They said the same about Frankie Sheahan.

Kenya strikes gold in the 400 hurdles.

Well done Mac. I still think the odds were brutal but hard to argue against a winning bet

Gatlin’s big chance was always the 100. He was never going to beat the saviour of the sport over 200.

Thanks. Odds were brutal if you viewed it as a treble. But were a gift if you viewed it as 2/1 for him to win the 100m which I did.

Just saw the race now. Did he ease down for the last 40 metres? It’ll kill athletics when he’s eventually found out but its mighty entertaining watching all the same.

If, by naive, you mean bilious, I’d agree entirely.
Raula padcliffe has forever tarnished my faith in athletics which I wholeheartedly believed to be clean previously. Like cycling and the greyhounds.

Ronnie Delaney’s gold medal race in colour. I’d never seen it. He was cool as mustard near the back right into the back straight of the last lap. You wouldn’t have picked him out to win it right up to 200m left.

These lads were mentioned on off the ball there. Ireland’s greatest hour in the Olympics. Tisdall and O’Callaghan won gold in LA in 1932. Top four in Tisdall’s race were Olympic champions in that event between 1924 and 1936. Tisdall helped O’Callaghan pare down his spikes between throws as the big Irish roaster was expecting a mucky track.

Tisdall has a grand soft Nenagh accent

I think you’re pretty naive to believe that.

Tisdall was born in Ceylon.

There’s a statute outside of the courthouse in Nenagh to the three local Olympic gold medalists - Johnny Hayes, Matt McGrath and Bob Tisdall.

Johnny Hayes was born in New York mate and won gold for the USA. Shocking lack of attention to detail in your post.
