Rhasidat Adeleke was over at the indoor track in the Sports Campus training this afternoon.
Hiko Tonosa has equalled Efrem Gideys Irish half marathon record this morning in Seville. Fuck the far right brigade
Would the half marathon record be highly coveted? Who had it previously to both?
Only in the last year as they’re introducing World Road Running Championships. And I believe half marathon times can now add points for World Championship Marathon qualification.
Martin Fagan
Tom Barr retiring.
He shot for the stars - the Rio final was a highlight and the recent relays. An alright sort.
An absolute alright sort. An awful shame he never got back to Rio level of achievements individually but the relay rewards last year were very sweet.
Fair fucks to him. He was never far off that medal at times, and represented us very well. I hope he made a few bob somewhere, he was driving some hape of shite for a long time.
Some cracking results this weekend.
Andrew Coscoran took 8 seconds off the Irish indoor 3000m record. Sharlene ran a PB in the 400m and Kate O’Connor smashed her own Pentathlon record.
All 3 automatically qualify for European Indoors now with Coscoran auto qualifying for world indoors.
And Sarah Healy has just broke the women’s 3000m Irish record and qualified for European Indoors.
I’d love to see Healy kick on
Needs to go and train in Holland
Another Irish record for Sarah Healy in 3000m indoors in the Millrose games. Sat in behind Jess Hill the whole way around and pipped her on the line for 3rd. Very confident run.
And Mark English sets a new 800m NR finishing in 4th. The winner ran a US NR and I think 3rd fastest time of all time. Must be a ridiculously fast track.
Andrew Coscoran up in the Mile in around 15 mins
And Coscoran breaks the NR finishing in 7th. Nuguse wins in a World Record time. The French lad in 4th broke the European record. Ridiculously fast again
Is that an indoor meet?
Yep. The Wanamaker mile being the highlight. It’s in New York. Ray Flynn is the man behind the meeting as far as I know
We’ve a proud history in that event.
The Chairman* won it a record seven times.
*a moniker based on the fact the track is supported by wooden boards
The outright Irish mile record Coscoran broke was held by Flynn I read this morning. That’s a lovely little story. Coscoran has so much ability. It’s a real pity he was sick in Paris last year. Hope he gets a good run at some events. Well capable of medaling at Euro indoors if he goes there.
Be the hokey
