English breaks 1.44 !!
That last 100m
Michael Johnson announces the early conclusion of the Grand Slam Track season meaning they’re missing the LA event. The Philly event had been cut from 3 days to 2 days so I’m guessing it’s a financial decision. Some claiming it’s due to the riots in LA which I’d doubt. I’d say it’s not a cheap thing to run and needs a lot of investment.
Rhasidat was 4th in Diamond League last night fading badly again over the last 75m. The Norwegian Jaegar ran over a full second PB I think which is remarkable. Klaver and Kaszmarek were behind Rhasidat. Hard to know where everyone is in their training block but given Alfred won the 100m and Asher Smith was close behind her you’d have expected Rhasidat to be closer to the winner. She goes again on Sunday.
Mark English finished a relatively tailed off 7th in what looked a poor performance at first but it then turns out it was his 2nd fastest time ever. And given he ran his fastest time ever on Monday it puts it in perspective.
That’s fierce sad and another effort at such a thing after failing. Athletics just doesn’t get people outside the big ones.
Sophie O’Sullivan
A bit of Paula Radcliffe in her running style ?
Mondo is some entertainer
We have to trust in Coach Flo
The GOAT
Sophie is one for the roughish thread
She had some kick in that final. Black cat…
You never know where anyone is in their training block but Rhasidat seems to still be struggling over her last 100m. Hopefully it’s all part of the plan but it’s hard not to be a bit worried for her even this early in the season
I was going to ask you earlier…when is the next Diamond League event as I knew she was running two in quick succession. And my follow on question was going to be…how concerned should we be if she ties up & finishes midfield again? How concerned should we be so? Has she flatlined or Is this all part of the plan? It looks like Amber Anning & others have overtaken her. The US have a couple of collegiate types banging out quick times. Not to mention the Pole & the two others that finished ahead of her in Paris.
I’d be concerned but I could be completely wrong. Julien Alfred from the same camp looks stronger than last year. It’s a hard one to figure out as the Worlds are later this year and that will be her main goal. This time last year she ran in the Euros while in the middle of a serious training bank. If you could see her closing out a race or finishing stronger it’d give some encouragement at least
You, @Horsebox , @StoneCold and a number of other fannies went ballistic when i said she wasn’t elite yet…
As always, I’m way ahead of the curve
