She put up a lovely post today

Kate O Connor is some bit of stuff

Lets just enjoy her before she gets the pressure of the nation on her in events they know fuck all about. She’s won more this season than a generation of Irish athletes won in years. And she’s so grounded it’s ridiculous. A brilliant ambassador for Irish sport and women’s sport

Agreed. A great bitta stuff. You’d be torn between signing her from the roof tops and getting we every bit o funding possible, and letting her rly beneath the reader

She’ll transcend borders and put lads either side of the border in awkward positions with questions they don’t want to answer. She’s succeeding despite the division of resources so a good chance she’ll go a long way to solving it.

She’s a genuine medal prospect for Tokyo Heptathlon. The nature of the sport means she could get hours of airtime on both RTE and BBC. Her base being in the North becomes provocative if she gets into medal contention. But not in her eyes.

She’s a ridiculous ambassador for young Irish girls. The more airtime she gets the better. Always comes across as so genuine and authentic.

Seems like a sensible approach. And rather than stay silent about it, everyone knows the reason. When Mageean took a similar approach and didn’t explain why it didn’t give a good look, even though she was nursing a severe achilles injury

This is class. Some cracking races today. Ladies 200m with Sharlene and Sarah Lavin. Men’s 400m and 1500m tomorrow will be crackers.

And this lady just oozes absolute class every time she speaks. The definition of a role model for every young girl who wants to get into sport

Michael Johnson’s venture will be remembered for financial messiness but it uncovered this lad who’ll to to Tokyo as the US champion. Commentators will be overusing the ‘he delivers’ cliche for years.

This is nuts. She’d win a world 400m medal at a hack canter but might not even run in it. An absolute freak of talent

@Mac 3rd for Gigginstown in the 5,000m

Sarah Healy beaten, as shock spreads across the grassy banks.

Say what you like but she made an absolute hames of that tactically. She’s miles better than that field even though it’s not her specialist event

An enjoyable day of athletics indeed. 11 miles with the club this morning - Raheny to Portmarnock Greenway return - followed by coffee & chats afterwards. Then over to Santry for the nationals this afternoon. Had booked a late lunch in Little Venice on the Swords Road 5 minutes’ walk from the stadium - 3 courses & soft drinks for 4 for €94, very reasonable & nice (& you could avail of the car park too). Wandered down pretty much in time for the featured RTÉ races & got a grand spot on the bank. The Fay/Coscoran battle in the 5,000m was probably the highlight but Sarah Healy getting turned over was the biggest surprise. Was happy to see Sophie Becker win the 400m for Raheny (& Wexford) & it was very enjoyable fare overall. My boys also had a great time rolling down & sprinting back up the grass bank for a couple of hours. Would recommend as a family day out.

The lad in 2nd is 16. Probably too young to play minor but will represent USA in the World Championships.

2 Irish lads, Conor Kelly and Sean Doggett in the European U20 400m final tomorrow. Kelly won his semi easing down by 2-3 metres. Doggett ran a PB finishing 2nd in his semi.

The depth we’re developing at 400m running is ridiculous over the last few years. Long may it last. Both of these lads will be challenging for places on the mixed squad for Tokyo. Kelly will be there.
