Bolt runs an impressive 9.79 but was pushed all the way by Powell, as close as I’ve seen anyone push him in a while. Not as comfortable as normal at all, but still incredibly impressive.
Funny scene at the end when some flower girl got in the way of Bolt and he dragged her along like roadkill for about 20 metres.

It was a tremendous run by Powell to be fair.
Realistically, the only man capable of getting close to Bolt in London is Blake.
Sad to see Kenenisa Bekele look a shadow of his former self last night. Hopefully he’ll have recovered his form in time for the Olympics
Watched the race again and am certain it was more of a sprint than a run.

Incredible run from Yohan Blake in the Jamaican trials last night. 9.75, fastest in the world this year. Bolt a distant 2nd in 9.86.

Ciaran O Lionard was 3rd in the Wannamaker Mile last night and did his best ever 1500 split. He was interviewed by Ger Gilroy this evening and was asked “you seem to be enjoying your sport again after…”? (interrogative inflection). He was the third sportsman this weekend to whom I heard him put the same question. The other two thus questioned were Ken Docherty and Kenneth Egan.

Ciara Everard? The quips write themselves. She’s through to the final, she came 3rd. Won’t medal but at her young age and into a final, it’s a great performance. She’s a fine looking young lady. UCD would be my nearest running club, living as I do in the 'brook. I wonder would they let me join as an alumnus, if that’s the word.
