Derval O’Rourke has retired

Source?

Sorry found it http://www.breakingnews.ie/sport/other/orourke-announces-retirement-634217.html

A fine athlete and someone who represented the country honourably, unlike other cunts. Wasn’t afraid to speak her mind either, think she might have a decent future ahead of her if she wants to move into a bit of punditry or journalism. A shame how she was done out of that last medal, I think she was still awaiting the award of it even up to recently.

Because Chewy woke up this morning and thought “I know what’ll be a great ballhop, I’ll pretend Derval O’Rourke has retired, that’ll really get them going”

Ya, I can see carving out a great career in Irish athletics journalism.

A “decent future” does not equate to a career. She already has a column with the Irish Examiner. I did not limit her to Athletics.

You’ve mugged yourself off here, not to mention poor simple @dodgy-keeper

I was only looking to read the article you as I couldn’t see it on the news sites I normally read.

I dug a bit deeper and found it on BreakingNews.ie.

Excellent riposte from @TreatyStones

David Gillick has now also announced his retirement

@TreatyStones and @Julio Geordio seem to be very giddy for a Monday.

I’m going on holidays in a couple of weeks and have spent the morning planning it so I am a little giddy alright.

Some English prick doing a lap of “honour” around Hampden flying the flag of st george despite finishing 2nd.

Clown

Mark English running in the 800m heats this evening just after 6. Has a real chance of a medal so hopefully he performs to his potential.

Tom Barr won his heat this morning in the 400M hurdles, he looks a real talent this guy and is having a great season.

I think English beat him over 400m recently. Barr is also a fine athlete. Savage event the 400m hurdles.

Amazed that athletics never really managed to market it itself as it is a fantastic sport to watch on TV. They should get rid of pace makers in the Grand Prix events so races are races and not time trials.

Edit - English beat Gregan over 400m
Gregan qualified for 400m semi finals this afternoon
Barr is also a fine athlete. Savage event the 400m hurdles.

It really is. Was watching a programme on Edwin Moses over the weekend. The greatest ever in this greatest of disciplines.

I seem to remember he was up against Pat Spillane in International Superstars in the early 1980s

I know. I’ve been to a few track and field meets and they were superb. Much more exciting than i thought they would be.
I suppose the drugs fucked them a bit in the eyes of the public.
