Ating a dog

This dog has been living wild on our road for nearly 3 years now. She’s in great nick considering she’s completely wild. A few neighbours leave food out for her.

Escaped from a hunt kennels at some surely?

They’d hunt this area regularly over the winter. A few times the lads with hounds have tried and failed to catch her.

Also the field where she regularly sleeps is full of foxes

Would anyone leave a shed open for her in the winter?

There’d be a few barns, out buildings etc where she could sleep but generally just seems to be in the middle of a field.

She follows me and the dog from a safe distance on the walk, whimpering away.

Ah godhelpus. She must be mad for some bit of company.

Plenty of company for her on the road. A few neighbours with dogs that just roam about as they please.

Not a dog, but we get this fella up to the door every other night. I know because he rattles the cat bowl looking for a bit of kibble. I caught him in the act tonight… I threw him out a bit of kibble and when i checked a few minutes later he and the food were gone.
The little one will be delighted with the picture… She’s gone stone mad on hedgehogs since we first told her and showed her a pic a couple of months back. She has a little teddy hedgehog ‘harry’ that she cuddles into most nights going to sleep.

Give them water to drink. They drink milk but it’s supposed to be bad for them. They are / can be covered in flees.

Have you given him a name?

It’s Cork so no doubt he is “Hoggie” or possibly “Hoggie Boy”.

Where is this? Lovely looking dog. Where does he/she sleep? Ditches? Any hassle with farmers or chasing sheep etc.
