great aul scrap, some banter

Reminiscent of the time we (Ballananty Rovers u14s) went to Galway and played Merview Utd in a friendly. We battered them and then destroyed salthill… We are Limerick!

I thought I had already explained in the Climate Change thread that I’m not a socialist? I’m on the same side when it comes to economics, but this government’s idea of econoomic reform is corrupt.
In terms of social and political thought, I’m definitely and proudly “lefty” as you so beautifully put it. But apparently that means I’m a bandwagoner as opposed to your considered and thought out right wing world view. This is the new argument is it? Lefties are bandwagoners and your lot are “considered”? (Plenty of my “lefty” friends are aghast at my right wing Adam Smith like economic views).
Any deadwood that need to be sacked for the greater good of an organisation, I’m more than happy to do so. In the same way I’m more than happy to support and help those within the organisation that work hard. Not sure how this is a problem, but thank you for running out of an argument and making it personal.
Stalinism was leftist tinkering and fuckacting? Makes Hitler sound like a Christian Democrat.
But thank you for recognising that I am entitled to my ungrateful opinion.

@balbec - we are cool though bro, aren’t we? I hate falling out with my Limerick pals.

Having read more about the “Free speech” law changes and listened to a few different journo’s it seems a pretty big majority of people, even liberals (why the fuck are try called this?) don’t back these changes. As was correctly pointed out by one Journo, it’s a much wider debate. There almost needs to e a refurendum here in it as it’s not as black and white as is being indicated. It is a huge issue here, much bigge than they wish to admit. I actually though Eddie McGuire spoke well on the issue recently.

It’s also believed Abbott went on a complete solo run with the knights and dames thing, he was even advised against it internally. Stupid cunt. If he wants to be British he should just immigrate, he’ll be out if work in a couple of years anyway.

Abbot wasn’t advised against it internally, he didn’t consult anyone, it was one of his brain explosions, thinking he was reflecting the thoughts of the nation. His Chief of Staff, Peta Credlin (the real power) told him to go for his life with it, as it would take Arthur Sinodinos off the front pages, did it ever. He’s suffered complete ridicule about it since, and rightly so. The SMH was good on Saturday “Downton Abbott”. It could actually do great things for the republican movement, which would be marvellous.
They’re shitting themselves over the repeal of secton 18c of the Racial Discmination Act though. They’ve really fucked that up, even ordinary, apathetic australians know what its about now and they’re not happy. The next Newspoll should be interesting.

What did McGuire say about it? In fairness, he’s not exactly in a position be commenting on racial discrimination after his performance over the Goodes thing last year.

No it was more to do with how people come here and how they are integrated and welcomed, he all but said “we’re shit at it”. The attitude is very much that everyone needs to be “Australianized” (according to others on the panel), which really mean britishized. They just don’t get it though, other cultures bring a lot and improve any country. If they start to acknowledge other people’s strengths they’ll solve a lot of problems.
The crap they go on with making people pay thousands to transfer qualifications is extreme arrogance that really has absolutely no grounds. In the majority of trades and skills I come into contact with Australians, especially Western Australians, are miles behind and completely closed to anything new or better. This is arguably their greatest weakness.

The biggest joke ever is brickies. The standard of work here is disgraceful from a lot of Aussies, and they have been embarrassed over the last few years by Irish and Brits. So instead of improving or the standard going up try pulled it off the skills list due to endless complaints from Aussie brickies about losing work (they were losing work cos they were slow, unable to use a level and would only work 6 hours a day and the builders recognized it). Now what’s happened is there is an incredible shortage of brickies and everything is up in a heap. The building economy is server ly twisted because of it.
That’s the kind if short sightedness they excel at.

@Fitzy what’s this ‘side’ of economics that you’re on with @balbec? Hopefully not the side that has dominated for the last 20 or 30 years or so and bolloxed the world economy?

mate, when you came out with your low tax spiel you lost all credibilityy out of this

Careful mate, all of the wannabe Chicago boys on here will have you jailed/ousted in a coup d’etat for your ‘commie’ leanings

:D:D
we played them in some national cup game, u-16/17 and beat them 6-1, we had a fella up front who since has done time in prison and then died from a drug overdose 3 years ago RIP) who led us off the bus at some petrol station on the way home outside salthill and he proceeded to rob the place blind while the rest of us provided a distraction… great fucking days.
They’re some shower of pansies tho,

We played against Balla in Bateman park a few years back, center half gave me a lovely dig into the side of the head after we had exchanged a few words.

I can better that, we had a number of the later to be top ranking members of the McCarty-Dundon clan with us… They weren’t the problem tho- We had a lad - about 6ft at 14, who had been shaving since he was 12, smoked 20 Benson a day… who played up front- he battered the lot of them on his own, took off one of his boots at one stage and clattered about 6 of them… The good old days!

what did you say to him?
If you ever have any issues in the Desmond League let me know, i know a fella who has Frank Murphy type powers in the MFA

I think I used the words “slow” “useless” and “cunt”.

We played Rice College one day in an U/16 schools match. They had a cunt with a beard playing center midfield. I made some remark about one of their sisters as we came off the field, next thing I know your man had picked up the corner flag and was swinging it at my head.

You country lads were always a bit tougher but no where near as mad.

They are still pussies over there…

I played astro over there last year and threw a shoulder at some big fella in a tight corners. Instead of trying to win the ball the cunt backed off and complained to the ref who told me it was aggressive play and if I did it again I was off.

Finally this thread gets interesting
