Ausbloodystralia

i remember i was over there when a G8 was on-the headlines were along the line that rudd was going to tell obamba to sort out the banking crisis & that he was going over there to stand up to the germans  the overly patriotic news programmes, the doing well in shitty sports to overcompensate for a lack of culture also irked

Mother of jesus, I have rarely seen such a collection of ill informed fuckwits in my life, and MBB hasn’t even posted here.

Kev - fuck off out of Australia so, you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.
KIB Man - get your facts right about Gillard before you shoot off stupid comments
TASE - Are you not married to an Australian?
Rocko - stop watching soaps.

FFS.

??

your pic has the abo and aussie flag (a lovely flag I must say myself). if you are that against it why promote it you moron.

you also brought up the point about people having to leave Ireland. Maybe dont bring up these points if you’re not going to back them up.

im guessing the job hunt didnt go too well, what happened the professional AFL, boxing, strength and conditioning expert career

‘i have found the aussies’ - fucking hell its like something an uneducated clown would come out with

The US immigration laws wouldnt back that up. Australia for Irish people is definitely more welcoming from the immigration side. We are lucky Ireland is one of the countries on the working holiday visa list. list of countries here http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/417/countries.htm

Irish people are entitled to free hospital care in Aus even if illegal. Certainly wasnt my experience in the US, giving false names in hospitals etc. 43% of Australians were born overseas or had a parent that was born overseas ffs. The racism card is well overplayed.

well for one their dollar is stronger than the USD right now. Its right that Aus is comparing itself to the heavy hitters, investment in the likes of the NBN and the likes they are planning for the future. Why would Aussies feel the need to be educated about a bankrupt little island of 4m people in the north west atlantic ffs? A lot of people dont give a fuck about Ireland outside the 32 counties, the amount of people in the UK who wouldnt be able to tell you the difference between Northern Ireland and the Republic for example.

The Brit thing is based on sport ffs, I know you are an unmerciful simpleton but Id have expected you to figure that out. They play minority sports - rugby, cricket etc and England are one of the few teams that provide competition.

Dont get me wrong there is a lot wrong with Australia and things that should be better. But thats the same the world over. You are well and truly talking through your hole on this matter.

whoa, what stupid comments about gillard? she reminds me of bertie. she didnt have an affair with emerton and later hire him to the cabinet? she didnt cave in to the miners with the super resources tax? her frankly shameful "Malaysia solution’ to asylum seekers and the huge climbdown she faced afterwards. She doesnt represent a party with the worst excesses of FF?

Fair enough if you dont agree but you might be wrong too believe it or not.

australias economy is tiny compared to the US or Germany-why would they listen to the aussies?

What the fuck are you on about, there is too much misinterpreting/changing of what i said there to even start.

You have seen one part of Oz, and really are living in a bubble.

TASE certainly has a grasp on what i’m on about.

Fitzy - There is no need to be so defensive, its like what i’m saying is upsetting you 'cos you chose a life here. Plenty people like it, quite a few people have said to me you either love Oz or you’ll hate it. Its a beautiful country physically, but i don’t like the people. Its nothing that extraordinary really. Remember these are my experiences, and my opinion.

Why is racism over played? Its previlant in every day life, i encounter it every single day without fail.

i think the problem with fisty is that he craves external affirmations, thats why he is always posting/boasting about his career,he needs validation from the rest of us. for you to say oz isnt the utopia he has made out dents his brittle confidence,

why what do they say to you Kev - fill us in and we might be able to help :frowning: .

Dont get me wrong I get the odd comment too. I had cunts at work calling me paddy there for a bit before I lost the rag with my boss in particular over it, ‘we think the term paddy as a term of endearment’ he went on with but its well and truly stopped. There was a frankly disgracefully racist programme about Bondi Junction a while back on one of the main channels and like the Polskis had to put up with in Ireland, there will always be the odd ignorant hick having a go. But fuck it you have to take the positive and leave the negative. A lot of people are delighted to have educated Irish people coming over. The minister of immigration for one, he was on TV a while back and made bits of some “I’m not racist but” clowns on it.

Just keep repeating the 43% line to them. Any white person here has an immigrant background ffs.

The Irish stuff is no bother at all, i just look at them like i’m going to kill someone and it stops.

Seriously though, my concerns about the racism have very little to do with the Irish though. Its across the board. We are only the butt of unfunny jokes alot of the time, the Middle Easterns, Asians and Africans get serious abuse.

Its completely unfair to compare the situation to Ireland, although you have a valid point on how some of the Polish were treated. They are members of the EU and its a million miles away from what the Aussies can get away with. The language barrier was a huge thing for the Poles and after a couple of years they were generally on a par with everyone else anyway.

Anyway, my point on USA is how you are actually treated day to day, nothing to do with Immigration laws.

Fighting in 3 weeks by the way.

You are correct and one thing that always grates me is the fact that a lot of them refer to it as Southern Ireland.

There’s that famous temper again. Tough day in Fishty household over the weekend it seems.

Fisty is going taking this issue all the way to the Prime Minister

no wonder fisty was ran out of bunclody with that temper

I’m going to give my annual recommendation of John Pilger’s A Secret Country on this thread now. Excellent account of Australia in the recent enough past and he makes some excellent points about the country’s history and the psyche of the people.

Here’s the first paragraph which sets the scene nicely:

As a young reporter on the Sydney Daily Telegraph asssigned to cover the wharves and the airport, I was obliged to ask ‘visiting celebrities’ what they thought of Australia. Although they might have seen only those unique Australian officials who spray arriving passengers with disinfectant, they were expected to play the game and make a statement affirming all that was good and sublime about ‘Godzone’. Exhausted by a seemingly endless journey, and broiling or shivering in the corrugated iron sheds that stood at the nation’s gates, they were prompted about the delights of ‘our beer, beaches and way of life’. Compliance ensured them generous space in the next day’s papers; resistance risked public opprobrium. When the actress Elizabeth Taylor loudly and accurately described the question as ‘dumb as shit’, the size of the bags under her eyes was reported and it was noted that her latest husband was ‘dwarf-like and grizzled’.

I’m not referring to her political actions which have in some cases (mining tax, Malaysian solution) been the worst kind of populist, mealy mouth politics. What I’m referring to is this - she did not have an affair with Emerton while he was married and he was already a minister and a long time member of the Labor front bench by the time she assumed power.

There’s that famous complete lack of originiality from MBB, Puke and now Tassoti

why so defensive mate? australia is not utopia, thats all we are saying

In fairness compared to Bunclody and Clonmel it probably seems like one
