@artfoley kindly reminding me what a dumb bastard he is. You couldn’t make it up.

Saw this being reported on Chanel no. 5 just now.

Shocked to read the guy died. Initial reports described his injuries as cosmetic.

I read this story about the girl hiding the death of her newborn baby. I dont know whether they authorities are going a bit OTT at this time on the poor girl. Sad all round.

not sure what they are supposed to do? they have to charge her, she basically had a child and hid the body. But whether she gets convicted is a different story. if she gets a 2 year sentence like is possible, then yeah, thats OTT. but from what I’ve heard about it, it seems more likely to be a slap on the wrist with psychological help and counselling assistance will be the outcome. Its a sad story though no matter what way you look at it, and hopefully she will get help. to go through that on your own must be horrible.

According to a couple of reports, the cops have a discretion on prosecution. I suppose the fact she was wearing dingo jeans wouldnt have helped

Australian unemployment rates jump up again, and have around 20% youth unemployment.

The government also lost it’s battle to decriminalize racism. Unbelievable it was even a discussion.

Is it true they’re bringing in or are trying to bring in a law where you have to prove you applied for 400 jobs in a month if you want to keep your dole?

How is this Kev? They have to bring in so much outside labour in relatively “unskilled” jobs. Driving trucks and shit like that.
Is it just because Aussies are stone cold useless?

That’s not true. They bring in skilled labour in areas of need. Lads go up to the mines to drive on trucks as it’s better money than being a chippy or brickie in Perth and it is also a way if getting in as a chippy or whatever in the mines. It’s a personal choice, they don’t recruit that way.

In top of that WA is different to everywhere else, which makes me think things must be tough in QLD, Vic & SA if the averages are brought up by WA. Absolutely anyone who wants to work can work in WA. That’s not going to last beyond next year I think personally.

The companies push the visa thing hard and they have ridiculous power. Even now in the 4-5 years since the last big push o irish it’s noticeable how many are managers, foremen, partners etc. the companies love them as employees.
Having said that western Aussies are the hardest working Aussies in my experience.

The amount of irish leaving is unbelievable though. Everyone you meet is leaving. The GAA has taken a massive hit and at least one hurling and one football club will be gone next yer and there will be no reserve league.

It’s a live it or hate it place. The majority who live it are young people who never lived anywhere else or guys who were on the dole for 2 years and are living just working and living again.

It’s a very strange thing though in general, the “irish in Perth”. So many lads you meet are broke despite earning 1200+ a week and one main reason is they go home at least once a year for every Tom dick and Harry’s wedding. I just don’t get it, everyone is in limbo.

I think the irish in Melbourne and Sydney are much happier to be honest. Being the nature of it, a lot of the money obsessed and greedy types were attracted to WA. But it is not what I would call a true Aussie lifestyle, far from it.
Very few surf, they are not laid back, they are extremely angry etc. a strange place.

I suppose my point was why don’t the Aussies take the jobs in the mines?

A lot of the stuff Abbott is trying to bring in is being knocked back, usually cos it’s bizarrely backwards.
They are a bunch of privileged kids in charge now who have this perception that loads of people have it “easy”. A lot of their principals are somewhat justifiable in they want to stop the rot of self entitled modern culture, but they make an ass of trying to do it.

I think it’s 25 jobs a week. It’s fucking outrageously stupid.

They do. The % of people working there would still stack up to that in the city I would think.

Plus it’s a shit life. Divorce and suicide eyes are double that of everywhere else.

Completely fucked here, don’t know how I’ll afford my next bottle of Hill of Grace.

Weddings aside, would their being broke have anything to do with the amount of Irish out there that are thick cunts and go on the beer from Friday till Sunday every weekend, like they did when they were working here?
