Aussie Rules 2013
only after hearing Eddie McGuires king kong reference. what a fucking tool. he has come out and said he didnt know what he was saying and just mumbled on, and in fariness to him, its sounds like he was just talking about nothing and didnt know where it was going. but for fuck sake, what was he thinking.

I genuinely dont know where he was going with that. after getting kudos for seeing Goodes straight after the match, to come out with that a couple of days later is baffling to say the least.
That’s cos he is a racist and all the rest wa cover up and something that might make his beloved Collingwood look bad. He basically called Goodes an ape. What atool

The AFL are making him go for counciling, that’s hilarious. He can Ho with the 13 year old girl.

Harry O Brien

“It doesn’t matter if you are a school teacher, a doctor or even the president of my football club I will not tolerate racism, nor should we as a society. Im extremely disappointed with Eddie’s comments and do not care what position he holds, I disagree with what came out his mouth this morning on radio. To me Eddie’s comments are reflective of common attitudes that we as a society face. To me Australia is very casual with racism, I would argue that many people in this country would not think what Eddie or the 13yr old girl said last friday is ‘bad’. In my opinion race relations in this country is systematically a national disgrace and we have a long way to go to reach a more harmonious and empathetic society.”

You must realize Harry O’ Brien is employed by Eddie McGuire. It’s quite remarkable.

He has followed it up with an amazingly brilliant and emotional interview on AFL 360 after. I’m very impressed with this guy. They are really bringing the race issue to the front here, it’s great.

Is Eddie the lad who used to do co-commentary with Marty on RTE’s coverage of the International Rules matches about a decade ago?

Dipper shirley?

Wasn’t the Big Dipper. I think it was the 2002 tests or possibly 2004.

Don’t think so. He’s a big media guy alright and commentates, but is the CollingWood Chairman.

I think he was on it alright Kev. He was doing more commentary back then and was the flagship commentator when channel 9 started the Friday night games around 2003 or so. it was only when he got the main gig at channel 9 around 06 that he pulled back on the commentary a bit more.

good piece from O Brien alright. fair fucks to him to come out so soon and blast him and say he doesnt give a shit who he is, that you cant say that.

Is Harry O’Brien a player yeah? Good comments anyway.

yeah, born in Brazil, his father from the Congo and his mother Brazilian. Brought up in WA though from a young age and go his name from his mothers partner when she moved there. He plays for Collingwood, which is the club that McGuire above is president of.

he has a very intriguing life. from where he came from, to how he made it in the AFL, how he thought his Irish/Australian step dad was his real dad for years despite not looking like him, and how his step dad took his own life then a couple of years back. he is a decent player too, a bit of flair and excitement about him, big long strides and booming kicks.

Yes it is, the same. He is a big TV Star here, having presented who wants to be a millionaire for years and commentates on the AFL, has a radio show and in his spare time he is the president of the Australian Defence League Collingwood Football Club. He is a smug arsehole at the best of times, but the comments yesterday were beyond belief for someone apparently so media savvy. I think he’s realised that this kind of casual racism is not casual at all, its racism, pure and simple.

Harry is an excellent player and an intelligent bloke and that was a great statement yesterday. As a mate of mine (a 5th generation white aussie) said to me yesterday, its funny how the two most impressive people in the country are both black and make all white people look like fucking neanderthals.

My m.

Thought I remembered the name alright. I recall him almost wetting himself with excitement when a bit of a scrap broke out and bleating at Marty to keep calling the footy while he commentated on the boxing. He sounded like a fucking moron.

Tommy Walsh’s AFL Career is probably over. He’s out for the season with a hamstring year.

West Coast Eagles look doomed for the year. An embarrassing loss at home to Richmond. A team of Big Time Charlie’s with a coach who has clearly who has list the love for it. A major clean out is probably needed.

Its bad alright Kev, poor Tommy, couldn’t cut a break. He tore the hamstring off the bone and requires an operation, so season over. He’s contracted to the end of 2014, but remains to be seen if he stays, or they release him. A lot of injury worries for the Swans at the moment.

Great win for Richmond who are going very well this year and in the 8 now, I’d love to see them make the finals (at Collingwoods expense).

I dealt with a guy here in Perth with exact same injury. It’s absolutely torturous and no certainty of coming back at all, and if you do with a severe miss-step and loss of speed. My guy trained twice a day for 6-7 months after 9 months completely out ( think his was worse than Walshes) and just gave up in the end. It’s actually far worse than it might sound, up ters with ACL’s or anything else. Feel bad for him.

It sounds fucking painful, thats what it sounds like.

Is it just pure luck Kev, or would it be related to a training regime, or lack of certain types of exercise?

Simple lack of hamstring strength and skeletal muscle in the area, skeletal muscle is built over a long time and requires alot of heavy max strength training as well as specific Eccentric, Isometric & Concentric training with lighter loads. An AFL player only has a certain window every season to get this kind of training in, so that’s just a fact of life (sport). The ideal stage of a career to do alot of this as well is just after reaching full adolescent growth, aroundl 19-21. From what I know of Gaelic Football Strength Training back along this would not have happened for Tommy. Now most people will survive even top level sport without being that specific, but still it’s ideal if its done. There is a degree of bad luck with any injury and alot of injuries happen when someone is neurally fatigued. So he may not have slept well last week, or may have been too focused on the game (stress if very fatiguing)etc and last week the exact same incident would have been dealt with quicker by his brain and thus his body. That’s all conjecture though.

The real reason is that he was brought up playing an amateur sport where they only play a few games a month - his body wasnt able to handle pro sports,

Its no surprise thatthe lads that come from Ireland early enough can adjust but the likes of Kilkenny,O hailpin and Walsh who played senior intercounty amatuer footy either gave up straight away or their bodies gave up on them

seemed similar enough to what happened to Tommy Bowe.
