Most impressive non- Aussie ever at a draft combine, apparently.
Seems to have a personality too which is good.

Happy enough with that for a couple of reasons. He has come from a club where he was coaching top players and won 2 premierships. He won 2 as well as a player. also, he is not an ex Eagles player stuck in the vacuum of Perth and can take an objective view as an outsider coming in and wont have the same tendancies of a stale club man rising through the ranks. this may hinder him too, being a Victorian coming into their patch, but they need a shake up.
some big moves today. Eddie Betts to Adelaide, and Syliva to Freo. Looks like Daisy Thomas to Carlton is a done deal too.[/quote]
Seems like a good man for Eagles. For all reasons you mention they need someone like him.
I get the feeling some of the clubs are trying to be too smart with letting guys go too early.
Buddy didn’t make a top 50 players in afl 2013 list this week. Yet Sydney give him a 9 year contract. Really mental

a 9 year $10m contract too. Hard ot know if he can regain the form, but there is no way he is still playing at elite level in Sydney in 9 years time. Calling that right here now. come back to this post in 9 years if needs be
Mumford gone to GWS. Not good, he’s been part of the spine of the Swans for the last couple of years, they’ll really miss him, tremendous ruckman. Pretty bad reaction in Sydney about the Fanklin signing (apart from the mirth about the whining from down south). It just doesn’t make any sense.
They basically wrote a 9 year contract so that Hawthorn can’t match it. His money is actually less for next 3 seasons than it was at Hawks and then it’s increasing for 3 to big money. They have a form of gentlemans agreement to look at again at 5-6 years.
Contracts aren’t worth a fuck anymore anyway. But it would be like the AFL to not allow it as everyone knows it’s just about canceling the Hawks right of offer and the “restricted” part of restricted free agency.
Dreadfully researched article. Goodes is not going and there was hardly any debate about the Indegenous team in Australia
Also Early comments are a bit unnecessary. I hope the real Australians win.

not sure about too much wrong with Earlys comments. by only selecting a squad out of a very small bunch of players, you will naturally have a diminished squad. maybe he’d be better off not commenting at all on it, but he could do a lot worse than what some (fans) out there, and here are saying about them only picking players of a select race.
To include Goods in it though, when he has been out injure
Daniel Kerr has retired, could have been a contender if not for injuries and being a fuckwit (translated as buddy of Ben Cousins), incredible talent, just wasted really.
@caoimhaoin did you watch the Marngrook Footy Show last night? Excellent doco from the 90’s about indigenous players.

No I rarely see it. The times I have it has been good though.
The chap operating the scoreboard had to be fast moving, alright.
Any chance of an All Traveller team heading out to Australia to represent Ireland at the next version of this?
any chance you would FOAD you racist hook nose soup taking cunt
What? I may be many things but I’m not a racist
What’s racist about his comment?
Know nothing of it. That would be a disaster of epic proportions. Sheehan is not a good fit with Malthouse.
Can’t see him leaving, don’t know him personally but know a few of his cousins and mates and he is a real home bird by all accounts.
Malthouse is everything that’s wrong with Aussie Rules coaching. His success has been a disaster for the sport. He’d ruin Sheehan.

He did alright with Martin Clarke and Collingwood have declined badly since he left. He also won the International Rules so surely would know a good bit about Gaelic players and their strengths and weaknesses?
He was the reason Clarke left the pies and came home. No coincidence Clarke’s return coincided with Mick leaving collingwood. Tuohy seems to be going well with him, but he was going OK before that anyway. I read malthouses book, it was some self indulgent crap
He fell out with Clarke Sid. Malthouse is the Micky Harte of AFL. He is a very negative coach. I worked with one of his protege’s last season, Michael Broadridgr and he’s an absolute pillock. Our head coach went over for a weeks mentoring as well and it made him a worse coach than he already was.
I have read a fair bit about Malthouse and have hEard a lot of coaches talk about his system etc. he is the devil for purists. He is exactly what I was talking about in a post you liked 3 days ago about coaching natural instincts out of lads.
There are other reasons, but one reason I believe Eddie Betts left Carlton is the restrictions put on his game. It could be also the reason Yarren struggled. Not a a race thing, just those types of players, mostly Indigenous, often struggle in the Malthouse strict system style if coaching. I saw it first hand here myself.
They have declined cos Nathan Buckly is a tool.
