Aussie Rules 2014

How many from Keneally’s combines have made any inroads, actually, how many are even still out there? In fact apart from Keneally himself, how many have made it at all, from this recent generation?

Zach Tuohy would seem the stand out. Pierce Hanley would be another. Begley had a good start, and at least had a bit more staying power than Clarke, but still faded away after his second season. That would be about it really.

there was a couple who went over this year, Brophy at the Eagles and some other chap at Freo. You also have Sheehan at Carlton and Byrne from Louth. Hanleys brother is in Brisbane now too (the chap that Mayo destroyed in the AI semi final when he was injured and wouldnt take him off)

but there has been far far more fails than successes with it. Heslin, McKeever, Cribbin, Kilkenny, McKaige, Kielt, Murphy, Dyas, Coney etc. I’m surprised it is still getting as much recognition as it does. not sure it is worth the investment from the Australians point of view.

I would suggest Kenelly is doing quite nicely for himself off this, but perhaps one Tuohy/Kenelly makes all the other failures profitable, hard to see it myself. From a GAA pov, I’d agree, its pretty much a nothing thing at this stage, a bit of a holiday for your talented young player, a chance to learn about conditioning in a professional sport, and you get him back in 6 months - 2 years at worst, or if its like Tuohy/Hanley 5+ years.
