Thought I read somewhere of a cash reward also, maybe I’m wrong. It’s wierd that people can’t accept that Tipp hurling folk might feel aggrieved that neither Callanan or Maher would be deemed hurler of the year. Doesn’t make the All Ireland victory any less sweeter.

PM made the very good point that it never really mattered when two KK fellows were nominated. A KK fellow always won out.

Indeed. From my point of view it seems odd. Wrong is the wrong word. I don’t think he should have got it this year given the drubbing Tipp gave Waterford. That’s not to say he’s not the best Hurler in the country. He may very well be.

So if your team loses one match heavily in a year where they lose only three games in total, two of them replays, 1 and 2 point defeats, you shouldn’t get an award?
