Thought I read somewhere of a cash reward also, maybe Iām wrong. Itās wierd that people canāt accept that Tipp hurling folk might feel aggrieved that neither Callanan or Maher would be deemed hurler of the year. Doesnāt make the All Ireland victory any less sweeter.
Ah no. You know what I mean. I was carrying it to the extreme. My point being that Gleason would gladly hand that reward back to see that last free against Kilkenny sail over the bar.
Indeed. From my point of view it seems odd. Wrong is the wrong word. I donāt think he should have got it this year given the drubbing Tipp gave Waterford. Thatās not to say heās not the best Hurler in the country. He may very well be.
So if your team loses one match heavily in a year where they lose only three games in total, two of them replays, 1 and 2 point defeats, you shouldnāt get an award?
